Summary

Its a big, robotic pig. What can't you do with that? If you're a nerd like me, he's awesome for tabletop gaming. His base is 55mm if that helps give an impression of the scale. Print away, and let me know what you do with him!

Sculpted in Tinkercad.

Instructions

So, I was able to print this guy fairly easily, though I did need to tape down the support circles when curling started to set in. I did him at a .10 layer height with a %10 infill and he took a little under 5 hours.

what are the 2 circles and the oval for ???

Oh, haha... this guy was back in my early days with the machine. Those shapes were actually there to provide a buffer for the horrible curling I was battling when I printed this guy. Probably not necessary for anyone else.

Congratulations on getting featured!

Knowing your other work i am sure there will be many more featured models to come.

Thanks, man! Its a total honor.

Reminds me of an illustration I did of a robotic cow which you can see here: http://cymonsgames.com/horde/http://cymonsgames.com/horde/

Hah, that's awesome. That reminds me of the "proto-cattle" I created for my sci-fi setting (model pending). I'll have to check out your site, looks like there's some interesting stuff there. Rogue-likes?

Some roguelikes. I'm definately a fan.

Which printer did you use?

Oh, Makerbot Replicator, single extruder.

cool beans,

I have the same setup.

if you haven't as yet look into the firmware/software upgrade

http://www.makerbot.com/blog/2012/06/22/updates-replicatorg-0037-the-replicator-firmware-5-5/http://www.makerbot.com/blog/2...

it has made the printing a bit faster (for me anyhow)

Oh, yeah! I just got that going. Its fantastic. Have you tried using the fast print setting yet? I haven't.

ummm no i didn't know i needed to do something to speed it up.

doh!

it did seem to be behaving better , I'll have to look for the setting.

I wasn't aware of the updates until I saw this thread here. Just finished updating, and I'm getting terrible results with the Accelerated Default settings. Went back to regular settings and I don't think it's just you- mine is definitely printing faster than it was before updates, even with the same settings as before.

Yeah, I haven't tried the accelerated defaults. They looked way too fast. I'm not sure what you would use that for. Maybe flat, featureless objects?

i have been using it

with the skeinforge settings as follows with good results

on the speed button (tab?)

activate speed checkbox checked

add flow rate checkbox checked

defaults on the other stuff

notable settings

feedrate 40 mm sec

flow rate setting (float) 40mm sec

travel feedrate (mm/sec) 55

that is faster than the prior settings but not the top end
I haven't tried pushing it but the "defaults" work good for me
hopefully you can get the issue resolved.
I personally am very happy with the new speed, its a big improvement on my
replicator

I wish they'd let us 'Favorite' or somehow subscribe to specific contributors. Your stuff is great!

Hey, thanks! Yeah, I don't know how to do that either. I guess just check in every now and then or watch my stuff on Pinterest. That should work. This is the first thing I've printed myself that I've posted here, but there will be tons to come.
