Summary

Modified Pine cone 3D scan by scobo to create a pine cone geocache container. SUPPORTS NEEDED.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

MakerBot

Printer:

Rafts:

Yes

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.20 mm

Infill:

20%

Notes:

TheGuyWhoLovesTurtles noticed a nub at the base of the cone, so I went with the raft and supports. Printing with ColorFabb's PLA/PHA to give it more durability outdoors than normal PLA would give. If you can do ABS, that would work better.

How I Designed This

Modified existing object in Tinkercad.

Use needle-nosed pliers to remove supports.

Very good design, but have one problem.
Main part bottom not flat and can not print without supports :(

Are there any supports needed? What are your printer suggested settings? Also your pinecone part has a tiny nub that is touching the plate and not the whole base, so it makes it harder to print. Testing out a print now.

Updated printer settings. I'm sure it can be printed at different resolutions and infills just fine, though.

A friend of mine printed the one in the picture. I've been waiting for brown filament to arrive, which it did today, so I'll attempt the print this evening if I can.

Great idea !
Just hope the geocachers can find it.

No matter how sneaky or creative we get with these containers, they always end up finding them!
