I am printing it right now, but I made some changes to your design. I could not make much sense of the circular inset at the bottom of the tips. I guess you added them to better focus the light. But when I print in vase mode, they produce some minor defects in my prints. I finally removed them and print the tips without a bottom now. Looks very clean and stable and should work with an LED, too.
I also changed the orientation of both models. Especially the 3-sided tip was pretty awkward rotated.
But all in all thanks a lot for the nice design!

i'm just printing that as a christmas gift. My wife loves them.
What's coming out of my printer really looks great.

A question regarding assembling:
It looks like the equatorial parts lay flat, so that in the end the tips point slightly downwards:
Is that right? Or just that pic?

=== EDIT ===
So... nah... saw it:
But than i'll need 18 big ones, not 17 as you mentioned. At least if i fully close the star.

Traditionally they only have 17 of the larger points of the star. This is so it can hang with a small light bulb inside and not get to hot... or can be placed on a table as shown in my other picture. Mine in the pic only has 17 for these reasons. You are correct however, it would take 18 to make it a fully enclosed star.

Yeah... i just could have taken one of the originals out of the shelf... sorry. After thinking long about it it came to me. Will make 18 and only insert a LED, that should work fine.
I'll post you a pic when it's done.
