Você pode fazer um fechamento com acrilico dobrado, aumentar um pouco o tamanho das barras verticais uns 100mm e fechar em cima. Tantas possibilidades...

Brandão, imprimi a peça 2-Y-Carriage-Clamp e para minha surpresa o buraco não é passante. Ele não deveria permitir o parafuso ir até as roscas de latão da peça 2-Y-Carriage ?

Deveria. Checa se vc nao imprimiu na escala errada o clamp ou o carro mesmo.

Eu imprimi 100%. Se você olhar a figura aqui mesmo (usando a opção para olhar as peças em 3d) a 12a imagem (apenas para ter certeza que estamos falando da mesma peça) você pode ver que o furo não é passante.

Ah, agora eu entendi.... voce pode fazer o furo com uma chave de fenda mesmo. É apenas 1 camada fechando pra voce nao precisar usar suportes na hora de imprimir a peça. a da Hevo é assim também.

Of course not; Z is limited to whatever length of rods, lead screws, and extrusion you want to buy and install.

Hello, I'm in the process of buying the pieces (Brazil and China) and looking for videos of the assembly and even of her in progress.
My doubts are about the list of parts that will be reused of the ANET A8 since I will not disassemble the ANET but do with all the new items.
I chose the LERDGE-X controller (LV8729 Driver kit) and Nema 17 42mm 12V motors (42SHD0001-24).
In short: my doubt is the assembly and vision of operation.

Minhas duvidas são sobre a lista de peças que serão reaproveitadas da ANET A8 já que não vou desmontar a ANET mas fazer com todos os itens novos.

Sorry if this question has already been asked. Will this conversion greater the print volume? Also, will I end up getting better quality prints? Can I use the stock anet a8 board?

In my experience the print quality is better than the stock A8 with very minimal tuning.

Exactly which extrusions are X, Y, and Z? I'm trying to convert an Alunar M518, my rods are 314mmx4 and 370mmx2, I'd like to know which extrusions to mod. Also, any way to make a fully printable X carriage? Mine has no mounts for the bolt holder, just metal arms to hold the original belts.

You should have the Z = 4x464mm, Y= 4x370mm and X = 6x314mm. I think that will work for the extrusions. on the X carriage, you can print any Hypercube Evolution carriage you like on the thingiverse. they are all compatible with this design.

Thanks for the quick response! But shouldn't the 6x314 be the Y axis? Nice to know the X rod spacing is so compatible. I was looking at other designs, but had trouble putting 3 models into Tinkercad and trying to figure out how to work with them.

Has anyone made it with closed sides, I see you wrote that I would need 3030R extrusion for Z to close the sides and I wanted to know can it be done with the normal 2020 extrusions (will the Y axis mount points hit the Acrylic) or is there enough space from the Y mounts to move freely when closed?

Enclosure, help, nobody?

I would use 3030extrusion on the vertical for enclosure. but if you already bought the 2020 one, you should use a 5mm spacer between the extrusion and the enclosure, otherwise the Y carriage will be stuck on the enclosure.

Not so obvious, I don't understand what you mean. There's plenty of finished examples in the Makes and all the files are finished... so what are you looking for?

Instead of asking for help (you didn't), you bring the wrong config setting which might confuse others. COREXY is not wrong, if you connect everything right.
If your X and Y were going the wrong way, maybe you had the motors plugged into the wrong drivers on the controller board. Try swapping them out on the board. You can invert direction in the firmware as well.

i spent hours, i tried so much. Swap the plugs on the mainboard, to change the settings in the config...Nothing really nothing helped -.-

For example, why is the config in the download the variable " Invert_Y_Dir false" and if i follow the instructions in the details i have to set it to "true" i dont get it.....

i am also not able to flash with "board: Anet v.1.0", its only able to flash with "board: Anetv.1.0 (Optiboot)...

Edit: i guess i got it. The Instruction in the Details are wrong, the config in the download center is right.

Why are you not able to flash the right option? What error does it give you? I wouldn't flash the Optiboot option unless you burned a new boot loader, or you risk overwriting your boot loader.

What Type of 2020 Extrusion do I need? Nut 6 Type B?

Hi, wondering how the horizontal bottom 2020 extrusions should mount. In the 3d redering and the pictures you show them flush with the end of the vertical 500mm 2020 extrusions but I don't think this would work. The Anet nema stepper motors are 40mm tall (body). With a 2020 extrusion, that would mean you need at least 20mm inset to mount the bottom horizontal extrusions where the Z motors mount. Let me know if I have this wrong.

I'm just trying to work out if there is enough room to mount electronics under or if I should extend the vertical extrusions to do this.

My bottom extrusions are mounted so that the motors sit just above the floor.

OK, thank you. This to me seems very tight as shown in the pictures. Let's say 2mm clearance under the Z stepper motor + 62mm for the stepper motor itself + 345mm for the threaded Z rod (total of 409 mm) which leaves 71 mm of space for the XY carriage. I am considering adding 20-25mm to the height (525mm vertical frame extrusions) to allow me to get a little more travel on the z axis and/or clearance for the XY carriage or room to mount electronics if needed. Any reason not to do this?

I didn't have a measurement, so I just started assembling and adjusted on the fly to make things fit. I'll tell you now that if you add 20-25 mm of height, that doesn't mean your stock Anet smooth rods will be long enough to accommodate that much more travel... so take into consideration lead screws and rod length. As for the 100mm space the frame sections, loose fit it and you'll find what works, then copy on the other side.

Thanks for the reply and that's what I thought. I already converted from the acrylic frame to the AM8 and all went well but there were some areas that I would have changed mostly around the y axis travel which was really tight with the dimensions provided and could have been addressed with another 5-10mm of extrusion length. I have mocked up the build in Tinkercad to bet a better look at how this goes together. I am sure all of the initial effort was to just get the A8 converted to XY and you learn things along the way. Most of us don't have the resources to do a v2, v3, etc. so I am trying to figure out if there is anything I would do differently from the original build.

Having gone from the A8 to the AM8 and now this, I sometimes wish I hadn't given my AM8 frame away so quickly so I could go back, to be honest, because although this design is roomy for my larger 300*200 bed, its at the cost of vibrations. Hindsight being 2020... pun intended :) Seriously, though, I have yet to get this dialed in as solid as the AM8 was. Still, there's opportunity for improvement. What I have done to improve it is revert from the HEVO parts to the original Hypercube parts for all the idlers. Making the X gantry as light as possible with carbon fiber tubes and a bowden setup was helpful. I ordered 2 more smooth rods for the Z axis and installed those on both sides where the lead screws are, that was a HUGE improvement to reduce bed wobble. Motor mounts and maybe the bed carriage will be next to follow the original Hypercube parts. I miss my AM8 sometimes, but I'm happy that I got to experience this build.

do antivibration feet help? is it louder than stock anet a8? does it affect print quality? i can't decide between this one and am8...

if you replace some of the 2020 with 2040 you can increase the stability even further.

Hmm, that's food for thought. I was thinking of a second set of smooth rods as it seemed an odd design to have on one side only. Is there anything else you would have done differently (used 3030 or 2040 extrusions ... just built something closer to the actual hypercube ... others?)

I would prefer to have used 2040 all along the bottom.

nate_nygren, this has been very helpful. I first looked at building the Anet Evolution, same size but with 2040 extrusion. The cost goes up a bit (about $45 to $75+). Not a huge cost but I don't think I would wan to use 2020 as I have seen other comments on the rigidness and given the size it seems like it is a safer bet to use 2040. I then looked at the CubeAnet Chaos frame, which blended this with 2040 and an upgrade path from the AM8 frame (i.e. use as much AM8 frame as possible). You end up with a smaller build volume but the cost comes down quite a bit and I probably won't spring for a 310x310 build plate any time soon anyway. I may try to see what I can sqeeze out of a similar AM8 -> Chaos upgrade path. One big downside is I need to dismantle my AM8 frame to do so which would be nice to have my AM8 in tact until the last minute so I need to make sure I have everything planned / printed / etc. Anyway, thanks again for the input it has been helpful.

Can't use belt tensioner with stock carriage, met these problems:

  • it doesn't fit between ball bearing
  • it rotated 180 degree, belt supposed to go between ball bearing but picture show otherwise
  • no place where tensioner inserts might move by rotating screws, maybe 1mm or less
  • it too thin, I broke all two parts I've printed

Good thing: I somehow managed to attach belts using broken parts, so I'm able to print and quality of prints greatly increased.

P.S. Am I only one who had only printer with stock carriage? I'm going to bowden setup for sure

i looked at it and didnt like it. went straight to the standard hevo carriage.

Claro. Se vc medir seus eixos lineares eu calculo pra vc o tamanho dos perfis. Se preferir, eu sei que o Guga já fez alguns frames adaptados para outras impressoras, ele pode lhe ajudar.

I started assembling my machine today and I realized that I don't have the bright yellow components (pictured in the photo) for the X carriage, or that the printhead mounts on where do I get those it looks like I have the end clamps for it but I didn't find the files for the part that rides on the rails, where can I finf these. I think I found them on the hypercube parts list I'm going to try printing them I'm just not sure which ones to use, a good instructions list would be really nice for this printer, thank yo.

I just received the last of my extrusions to build my a net evolution I do have to cut 20 cm off the 380 pieces, could only find 400mm, im excited to start this project, I know everybody says to use the hypercube evolution instructions is there any other than the ones listed on the hypercube evolution on here that anyone has used it work really well, thank you

if you get 2 400mm 8mm rods you do not need to shorten the extrusions

Leve em conta que a Prusa Mendel tem o eixo X um pouco menor que a Anet. Confira a medida dos seus eixos antes do fornecedor enviar o frame, para que ele adapte as medidas pro material que voce ja possui. Boa sorte! Poste fotos!

Could you add a part list for extrusions if the heatbed is size 275x220 (using same mounting holes as a 220x220 bed) - or maybe a 200x300 bed (usually this type of bed is 214x314mm in size) ?

The heatbed mounts are the same as the Hypercube evolution. There you will find different lengths to fit your heatbed.

I'm using a 200x300 bed; the extrusion lengths are the same as listed.

i am starting a build of this. The X Carriage seems to have some problems.
First the belt tensioners dont have space to move so the belt tensioning wont work.
The back connection with the sides seems very flims and will not withstand a lot of force.

I'm assuming the smooth rods are 8mm, taken from the Anet A8.
I've tried 8mm rods before in other 3D printers/CNCs and they tend to bend slighly when longer than 35cm, therefore, I'd like to build this printer with 10mm smoth rods. Would you be able to share the original files so I could increase the diameter of the rods and the linear bearings (from LM8uu to LM10UU)?

Estou a assumir que os varões inox são de 8mm, retirados da anet A8.
Já tentei fazer outras impressoras 3D/CNCs com varões de 8mm e eles tendem a vergar ligeiramente sempre que são mais longos de 30cm, por isso, gostaria de construir esta impressora com varões de 10mm. Seria possível partilhar os ficheiros originais para que eu possa alterá-los para aumentar o diametro dos varões e o diametro dos rolamentos lineares (de LM8UU para LM10UU)?

Yes, the smoothrods are the same of the Anet. 4x 380mm an 2x435mm. You do not need to make a remix for 10mm rod, you can get it straight from the Original Hypercube :https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2254103

sim, dá. porém para ter toda essa área útil voce vai precisar de um carro X mais enxuto. com um E3D v6, ou parecido.

What is the build volume of your printer? and what is the maximum travel you have on each axis?

Elsewhere in the comments, the designer has shown a 310x310 build plate is able to fit, but that doesn't reflect the actual print volume possible. The travel limits you have on the X axis will depend on the position of the endstop, the size of the carriage, and the offset of the nozzle from either side of the carriage. With my endstop being placed directly over the XY idler and using a Titan Aero carriage, I have about 230mm of travel before I get to the other XY idler.

Would you kindly share the assembly file? I'm thinking to remix to use cheap round tube instead of alu profile.

Eu optei por nao usar as polias originais da Anet. Mas elas podem ser usadas no lugar das duas polias lisas.

Dentro desse projeto, voce pode colocar a mesa de até 310x310. porém vai precisar trocar os motores do Z (os originais da Anet nao aguentam, e acrescentar mais 2 eixos no Z.

It is on the project. Marlin Firmware, use default Anet A8 exemple. Change the lines I show on the Thingiverse instruction.

Where did you purchase your anchor connectors?

I`ve pruchased on Enilegho, a local extrusion vendor in Brazil. If you are having problem looking for one, I saw an engenious idea on the VORON Slack group. They use a screw (Button head) thru a hole to fix the frame. It is very nice.

Parabens pelo projeto, andei procurando pelo perfil redondo 3030R com aquela abertura para poder fechar a impressora na europa mas os que encontro nao tem aquela abertura, voce pode me indicar qual deles é?

Obrigado. Tu podes usar o perfil 3030 comum e fazer o fechamento com blocos. Funciona bem. Segue a foto do meu com 3030R e fechamento em policarbonato (plexglass).

Nice design. I am wondering a bit about where the different size extrusions are used. Could you maybe make a description or drawing where the extrusion dimensions are listed ? That would ease assembly quite a bit...

If my Z rods are 500 mm in length - what would the 500mm extrusions the have to be extended to ?

If your Z rods are 500mm, your vertical lenght will be: 500mm (rods) + 100mm (XY carriage) + 3x20mm (extrusion lenght for 3 profiles) = 660mm

Video is online now... That clarified the extrusions... The next interesting bit is the mount of the parts inside the cube.
If you publish the Fusion360 file, it will at least be possible to see in there where the different parts are going :-)

Waiting for some stuff for wiring and then I will post some pictures under Maker as well. So far it looks neat. Made some changes and took some parts from the original HEVO due to e3d v6 and stuff but rest is yours ^^.

Nice Job! I made a core XY machine from only the stock A8 all ya need to buy is longer belts and about 6 pulleys. The the frame can be anything the is 1inch square. Also support a 310mm cubed build volume if you upgrade the bed still with only the stock parts and the design doesn't change.

I finally printed all the parts. Now I wonder, where did you get the bearings for the Z axis from? The X/Y axis bearings are clear, rest unclear ^^.

You will use the Stock Anet Z bearings on the XY carriage. That way you will only use one bearing at each Y carriage. The Stock Anet Y bearings, will be used at the Z bracers. The X carriage is the same in both of them.

Okay. my apologies just found them ^^. How the actual .... did you get them out of the aluminum casing? I can't even get the clamps that keep them in place to move an inch ^^.

Hi, interesting project. What do you mean by Anchor Connector Universal PG20 ?

It is an internal connector for profiles. It work great and make the overall appearance excelent. But if cant find those wherever you live, you can use 20 L bracket corner connector.

I think I see, like a hammer nut with a screw attached. You would tap the end of the extrusion for a 5mm screw. Is that correct?

no. not at all. I'll take a picture of one outside the extrusion later. But that hexscrew shown on photo, is the one who lock the anchor in place.

Hey my friend, nicely done, I have a Monoprice i3 and an Anycubic i3, will this work as a basis for making those into evos? Or if you have some spare time could you help me out a bit? because the Monoprice linear bearing blocks are different than Anet, the Anycubic uses the same I think

Yes, you can change both of them in CoreXY for sure, but since they are very different from Anet A8, may be this would be an Idea or a concept. PM me and we can discuss this. I would love to help you on this project. Currently I am on a trip to US, so my response time is a little slow, but I’ll be back home by Monday.

Do you have a list of the 8mm rod lengths you used and did you use LMU88 bearings all around? Thanks the design looks great!

The rods are the ones from Anet A8.
4x 380mm.
2x 435mm

And yes, you will use the LMU88 bearings from the Stock Anet A8 aswell.

Any chance you could release a set of the files for 3030 extrusions? I was lucky getting a bunch of 3030 and 3060 profiles very cheap :)

The version with 3030, you can use the same size of 2020 exrtusions, but use the original Hypercube Evolution files (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2254103) no need for conversion.

Yes. I've made some calculations an the biggest heatbed is a 330x330. But for that I strongly recommend 2 extra guides on Z2 and better stepmotors for the Z.

I just updated the Thing Details. The Dowel pins are no longer necessary. We modeled a new carriage to use the original Anet A8 carriage. If you want to build the Hypercube Evolution Carriage, you will need a 3mmx14mm dowel pin.

Yeah i´d like to use a Bowden Hotend. So i used the X Carriage from the Original Hypercube Evolution.
And the M3 Screws are from the original Indegridients of the A8? And they are only needed for the Motor- and Endstop mounts?

So i ordered M5 Nuts (100 pcs.) for the Extrusions (M5x10 screws i already have about 150 pcs.) (all in Germany .. Amazon.. i want to do the Project fast.. and i have got some other Printers to Print failure Prints ;) )

I will send you pictures of the finished project in the "Made" part of this thing.. but i think that will take 1 or 2 weeks till its all done..

Yes, all M3 screws necessary you can remove from the original Anet A8 frame. you need them to the motor, y carriage, x carriage, Z supports, XY iddler... basicaly almost every printed part have at least one m3 screw

I found good and cheap 20x20 B-Typ Nut 6 profiles. Do I need Nut 6 or Nut 5? Or is there even a difference for the build?^^

If fits on the profile, it will work. may be a bit hard to use on the printed parts, but nothing a good drill dont solve

It varies. but you will not need to buy them. on the Original ANET A8 frame you should have those you need.

Yes. The 50mmm. But I've already calculated 60mm underspace for the electronics box to fit. if you want more than that.

No, you are not. On the draft, I couldnt put the coupler on the leadscrew. But it was taken into account. This space from the coupler and the base of the frame os exactly 68mm. so you will always have this space within the base. by using the electronics box, you can screw it in the back. I'll improve the draft as soon as my fusion skills improve. lol

As alterações que gostaria de fazer é substituir os insertos por porcas embutidas na própria peça e em vez de usar 6 polias lisas substituiria por rolamentos 608ZZ bom buxas internas para manter o diâmetro de 3mm do parafuso..

Para ficar mais fácil de encontrar os componentes no brasil.

As peças do Carro Y são as mesmas da HEVO, alteradas apenas a as buchas pro eixo de 8mm. Estão em (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2254103). A idéia é boa. No caso, as polias lisas podem ser substituidas pelos rolamentos originais, sem nenhuma perda significativa, que sao só 2 lisas. mas as 6 polias necessárias, são dentadas.

How big is the resulting printer? 420x460x500? And how big is the resulting printvolume? (Estimation would be enough for now) :)

I'd also rather move one of the Z rods to the other side of the printer. That'd result in one Z leadscrew and one Z smoothrod on each side of the printer. In the current preview i'd expect the bed to wobble forward/backwards on the right side, as a result from play in the z linear bearings on the left.

Exactly: 420x460x500 is the external volume. The print volume will be the same as the Anet A8 220x220x240. You can increase the bed size with this same frame, kind of easy but I`ll not cover it on this project.

I`ve tried one Z rod at each side of the bed, but on Fusion Simulation, it show some strange behavior on torchion. So I kept that way. Not the best looking, but managable.

You can also remove one Z screw and mount it with a smaller bed support

How much did you pay for extra hardware parts?

I live in Brazil. So here is about R$300,00. Something about US$90,00. I think it will be less than that in other countries.

This project aims to use the most parts of the Anet A8 Stock. So it is on the Electronics. Board, motors, steel rods, bearings, lead screw, etc... all those parts are from Anet.

To settle the board I chose one design that I like, but as explained on the project, almost any AM8 electronics box will do.

The configuration necessary is also explained on the project, but it is open to sugestions.

I believe that the steel rods are of the same size (380mm for Z and Y and 435mm for the X). if they are on the same size, most likely it will be compatible with this project aswell.
