Simple DIY compass circle cutter for circles from 31 to 468mm diameter or more (with longer square 10x10x1mm aluminium tubes).
All parts were printed with PLA+ filament, but normal PLA will do just fine
Added new V2 needle holder and pencil holder for Ikea pencils (they are free and half of length of normal pencil)
Added new holder for X-Blade Knife
Support is only needed on part "needle holder", but only where hex hole is. Just rotate original part by 180° and on bottom of part is "support" added. I used ESUN PLA+, head temperature 220°C, heatbead at 60°C and printing speed 60mm/s, retraction 10mm and cooling fan on.
Use 4 lines for walls and 5 layers for top/bottom, flow 102% for Esun PLA.
First remove support from part called needle holder and glue part holder_1 together with thin CA. Before gluing parts together check fitting, if to tight, some sanding will be needed. Then cut aluminium square 10x10x1mm tubes 220mm long (if needed cutter for greater diameters, cut them longer), make sure they are both same size. Sand inner edges with sandpaper or use files for metals. Then sand end_part to get it 10mm width and 26,2mm tall. Rest of it should go together without problems. Maybe some little sanding will be needed on blade holder, to get it inside hole. Also sand edges of hole and inner walls to get smother surface.
I also added small pads for centre needle in case you don't want hole in circle. Use 2mm moosgumme (2mm thick foam rubber), cut it to fit in pads and apply some contact glue to fix them in place.
I made short time lapse video of assemble
To finish compas cutter you will need:
1x M6x30mm NYLON(Plastic)HEX Hd BOLT screw + nut + washer
1x M4x20 hex head screw
10x10x1mm square aluminium anodised tube (you can also use normal tube)
2mm steel wire 20mm long for needle. Just sand one end to get sharp cone.
18mm snap off blades or vinyl cutter blades
Just look on ebay for vinly cutter blades that have 2mm body diameter, something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5pcs-30-45-60-Degree-For-Roland-Cutting-Plotter-Vinyl-Cutter-Knife-Blade/332427539103?hash=item4d6639b29f:m:msF7ZmARud-rnqsgWQe5znw
You will also need 2x 3x8x4mm ball bearings, 15mm long 3/2,1mm and 15mm long 9/8,1mm brass round tube ( aluminium tubes can be also used, you can get them at local RC model shop), some CA or epoxi glue for gluing blade into tube.
