is there a way to define the size of the honeycomb holes??

foud it thanks mate it s perfect

This was my first 3D print on my first 3D printer (Ender-3) and it came out perfectly. It also solved a major safety problem with a muffin fan that I use out in the open. Thanks!

OpenSCAD file is awesome! I was able to easily customize it and make it exactly how I wanted.

This is great! You should add an option to print a solid cover. I've fan holes I want to plug up to prevent dust inflow.

You can use OpenSCAD instead.

These are awesome, nice work!

Any chance you'd be willing to add an option to allow for snap (not screw in) mounting? Either some sort of friction fit similar to this:

Or even better an actual snap in similar to this:

There are some fans on a few printers (like Wanhao i3) that it would be extremely useful for since the screw mounting isn't easy. I am able to find a few options but I like your customizable grills SO much more!

The customiser is not able tp process the request. Every time after adding it to the customiser queue for processing, it is giving error with no reasons ! Please help.

This is great. I'd like to suggest adding support for a cylinder in the center where the fan hub is.

in the SCAD file the "cover_height_in_millimeter" has no influence.

"cover_height_in_millimeter" is a preset value depending on the "fan_preset" value. To change the height, you have to set the value of "fan_preset" to "custom" (default: 40).
Then all values of the custom section influences the model:

  • cover_size_in_millimeter
  • screw_hole_diameter_in_millimeter
  • screw_hole_distance_in_millimeter
  • cover_height_in_millimeter
  • grill_pattern_height_in_millimeter

Make sure to change all the values to your needs. There are some hints above each parameter.

nice, I will post a make pretty soon.

I would suggest increasing $fn for the circles in the crosshair pattern a bit, for my 120mm fan cover the polygon approximation became quite apparent in the finished print.

Thanks for the hint! I've changed it accordingly.

Great design.
For information, the link included in the SCAD file is to a different thing.

Thanks and thank you for the hint!

I discovered a nice thing by watching your design: OpenSCAD
Great job man!

OpenSCAD is great and perfect for customizable models! The program looks inconspicuous, but turns out to be a Swiss knife ; -)

Great job. Really usefull. Keep making!

Great job! Thank you for sharing!

The custumizer presents this message and it does not work:
/usr/local/bin/openscad/openscad: error while loading shared libraries: libCGAL.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

This is a known problem and need to be fixed by makerbot soon. In the meantime, you can use OpenSCAD instead. It is free and faster, than the makerbot customizer. And with the latest version OpenSCAD 2018.01.06 (section development snapshot), you can use the built-in customizer. Download: http://www.openscad.org/downloads.html

Thanks for the info. A great job

Amazing! It must have taken you a lot of work. I think you've broken a record: the thingiverse thing with most files :).

Yes, it took a lot of time, but the need seems to be there and I am looking forward to the feedback from the community. Maybe someone is missing a useful feature or has a suggestion for an additional pattern?

Sau cool :D
