This is a dual color model of HPV's (Human Papillomavirus) capsid structure.
I imported Educator's HPV model .stl into a program called Meshmixer. In this program, I edited the design using the 'plane cut' and 'separate shells' editing tools. I differentiated each of the protruding regions of the capsid as different .stl's, and then combined all these separate .stls into 1 .stl.
At this point I had two .stls that I was working with in Meshmixer (one was the combined .stl of the protrusions and the other was the icosahedral). I exported/saved them both as two separate .stls.
I then opened both .stls in Cura (Ultimaker's 3D printing program/platform). Subsequently, I marked the floating protrusions .stl to be printed by extruder 2. Then I selected both models, right clicked, and selected 'merge models'. Both models then combined to make the original HPV virus structure, however, different regions now differentiated for dual color printing.
