NEW UPDATE

======================================
I added the STL files, I found a plug-in for Maya to convert it to STL. This is the first time I have ever converted anything in Maya to STL so I hope they work. If for some reason they don't I have included the Maya .MB file format, so anyone with maya will be able to open up the SnailBot project.

Let me know if you get any problems.

Cheers - and best to luck to all in the Makerbot contest.

Ok I uploaded a 360Deg. view of the SnailBot. I didn't/don't have the time to animate it being assembled, so I just did a 360Deg. view hope that is OK. Notice I raised up his eyes (white lights) to help bring out the snail features.

On a side note, I created it with Maya and they don't save/export as STL so I don't have any way of uploading the data file in that format. Anyways I did not make everything to scale, it was just a concept for the contest. Meaning the gear teeth won't line up.

Hope you enjoy the video, and would love to see who wins the contest.

Later. If you have any more ?'s please feel fee to ask.

Yeah I know, each part would be made separately and assembled together. As you look at the pictures you will notice not 1 part is made as 1. Everything is made seprate.

This is my idea for the contest that is being held on http://makezine.com/go/makerbotmakezine.com/go/makerbot . The project is called "Gary the SnailBot" The 2 large wheels move independently via wireless controller. Notice all the colors that the "SnailBot" is made out of, are the colors that are available to purchase for the MakerBot.

Well, it can only print one color per object right now, changing them with the current extruder design is quite hard.

Also, put up the design files!
Lemme see some STLs!
