Summary

This is an Out of Filament detector for the Makerbot Replicator 2 with Sailfish firmware installed. It uses the p-stop option that is only available when using sailfish firmware. Please read the following links before attempting.
Switch used is a simple OMRON ball-roller micro switch. When the filament runs out, the switch lever opens.

Why don't you add the design files (openscad etc)?, switches are quite different and one cannot customize it.

This will also work on a printer running Marlin firmware. All you need to do is set the switch to activate the M600 "Filament Change" code. I used this forum topic to get it working : http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?1,297350,381605

Sure will, however at the moment I'm out of country on a business trip in PI. I will answer as soon as I return/ get a chance.

very nice idea! I would suggest opening the connector holes a bit wider though, so that you can use a blade connector and not just push wire through the hole / solder it into place. It looks like your switch is designed to do both, but Blade connectors are easier and removable (as compared to solder)
