You could get an Olfa CMP1 Hobby Tool Circle Cutter to easily cut circles in the Kapton

Great idea! thank you posting it.

Being the cheap git that I am, I'm going to use this with mah trusty bluetape. ;D

would a craft circle punch be easier to cut out the patches? you could lay the tape on wax paper or parchment paper as a backer then use the punch to cut out the small circles. something like this, although this is 1" which may be larger than needed, they make smaller ones that may be better. http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-Squeeze-Punch-Medium-Circle/dp/B000OMYCXKhttp://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-...

That's a great idea. I tried a 3/4" punch made from thin wall steel pipe, but even though it made an indentation that I could follow with a knife, it didn't cut through the tape. I think the key is the material that the tape is applied to. Perhaps a double layer of Kapton on top of a 3x5 card. The first layer would stick to the card, but the second layer would peel away like it does on the roll.
