I chose not to put a base underneath this model, or a bust plaque etc, while it looks pretty sitting on a desk, it also takes away a massive amount of build height you could be using to make this closer to scale size.

Manually smoothed in blender with scultping tools (yes it took forever... no auto smooth on this ).

New version, even smoother and in 3 pieces:

Awesome detail, I just printed one off. Took 9 hours! LOL :-p

The amount of work you put into all of your things just blows my mind!

Do you have a version that is multiple pieces like in this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfdBbNRx-v8 Thanks!

Check my designs.there is a 3 piece in there.

Do you recommend MakerWare-Supports?

I have printed it with and without, the supports are not hard to remove really, i have a cut up one also would you prefer that? if anything a Raft is necessary because it's such a long print and you need a good base on it.

Oh, i did not see your answer, sorry...
I will try it with rafts and supports... I do not prefer the cut up one, it just isn't my thing... I want to print it in one piece : )
(Like i posted on your newer design: If i want to print it with supports in one piece: Should i take the STL of this one or the newer one?)

It's nice knowing we got people like you to make Thingiverse a nicer place:) I'm going to print this soon when I get the chance.

Were you able to edit and smooth the original STL file? If so, what did you use to do it?

3DSMax and several hours of eye straining vertex editing :p

I appreciate you making this print! I am having trouble getting some of the "pipes" that connect to the skull to print intact. Does that make sense? They are not joining together in some spots. RostockMax V3 Thanks!!!
