id love to see a tow truck from you

Where was this when I was a kid?! This is amazing!

my boys are literally begging me to print this for them!!! they even agreed to not play video games more than an hour a day in their negotiations!! (i was surprised when they made that offer!!)

How much filament does this whole project take? as i would like to print one

"Thank you for the design and we love your youtube videos!!!!"-Derek and Zak-aka my boys

Hi there! I can't seem to find part 3033 nor 6x5 plates to substitute as the notes mention.....am I missing something? Thanks for your hard work!

You were correct, I have updated the file with the missing part.

It would be scaled for 5 x scale, so if your doing a different scale print then you will need to adjust accordingly.

thank you that helps alot!

This is such a cool project, awesome work!

I had this set when I was a kid! My first technic set, and I loved it... Still buying way too much Lego today. Dunno if my budget or patience will stretch to a 5:1 scale, but I may have to do a 3:1... Awesome design :)

Just curious, are you expecting any legal problems with Lego, do they have any ways to protect their IP? Or do they care at all?

Well so far no comment, I woild hope they would see it as a compliment. After all I’m not competing with them..

You not competing with them, no doubt. But what's stopping our enterprising friends from far away places to use the files to mass produce a knock off version of the kit?
I mean no offence, and i would like nothing better then for Lego (and friends) to publish all the designs under CC. But they live in a competitive world where they need to protect their profits.

You need to watch the "Toys that Made Us" episode with LEGO. All their original patents expired and everyone is making copies of their products. even Large companies. What they have going is their exclusive rights to movies and other franchises and their quality.

Erm, but that’s already happening.. have you not heard of Lepin? It’s a Chinese rip off of all the major Lego kits!

I haven't until now. I guess they only exist because the patent/copyright law doesn't reach very well into China. Thingiverse is easier to reach. Let's see what happens, hopefully nothing.
Didn't realized this was a kit from 1979! They haven't changed much since then ;)

Well the Lego patent ran out years ago. So anyone can make building blocks. However what
Lepin are doing is exact copies of the designs and brand which probably infringed all sorts of law and design rights. The reason Lego don’t care about other building block makes is that they literally have the world market!

Is there any way I can get a copy of the 3145 file undivided and the normal size? I am having to print my kit at 3X the size, not 5X the size. I can resize and slice it myself. Please and thank you!!

BTW, this is amazing and I am loving printing it!!

Additionally, gear parts like the 3749, should we print two and glue them together back to back so each one looks like the real Lego version?

this is awesome. i'll definitely try this out one day. next you should build the Saturn V Lego set

I don't think i can tackle an entire set, but my kids and I love playing with a few pieces. Great work!
Have you tried it with the "LEGO" on each stud? Whenever we are going through our box of Lego we always try to avoid the ones without it. cough... megablocks... cough...

Thanks! I was going to put LOGO on each stud ;)

I've started printing some parts. Think this is gong to take some time to do.

They look great! Good luck :)

You guys rock! Unfortunately my sons found this so I have to spend the summer now printing one on my own... :-)

Thanks :D and sorry ;)

Awesome work Dude,, was a big Technic Lego fan and now got my Young Fella started on to the Stuff too,,,
Many Thx for Sharing your Work--,,

Oh thanks, appreciate the feedback :)

My sons used to be LEGO-lovers. If they were still in the age, I would have jumped on such a project. Very very nice!

great idea and nice print. How big must the printing platform be for the large parts?

This was done on a Taz6 but larger parts were joined. :)

I can´t found the file yellow 3145. It is not in the yellow part zip-datei.
Where can I found it ?

Yes this part was missing, I've added a new zip file with the missing part.

I'll take a look...

If you scale it down :-)

Cool. What material did you use for printing?

How much did you spend on filament?

Ths would cost about £500 but i get sime discount from my supplier.

How many kilos of filament go into this?

Were all the parts printed on your LulzBot Taz?

Love the design!!!!

Yes mostly on taz6

Now you just need to make it big enough so he can sit in it...

What a great Dad!! Way to go man, awesome build!

Uncle.. but thanks anyway :)

How much material did it all take to print?

About 26kg plus waste of probably 1kg

I spotted the forklift after finding my old kit of it and thought of building the large version you did, but this is far better and will be building one of these.

How long did the full print take

Between 600 and 700 hours

bloody hell thats insane! fair play
