*6/13/18 Update: Yeah, I printed the pegs/holes that are supposed to register with the 3DS, but they didn't fix. DO NOT PRINT THIS THING UNTIL I FIX THAT. I'll update this design once I have the time to fix that.
*5/31/18 Update: This is the final version of this design until I'm able to print it for myself to verify that the 3DS alignment is perfect. I split the main cradle into two parts, which allowed me to greatly reduce the amount of material by hollowing big solid parts out. I also changed the drawer to something more practical.
*Small Update: I made the front plate a separate part, and added a blank one, in case you don't want the Pokemon logo, or if you want to add your own.
Fair warning, I have not tested this item yet. I don't have good calipers, so my measurements are probably ~.5mm off in either direction.
This item was partially inspired by this creation by x9x9x9x9x9. I was considering buying an official dock for my (regular sized) New 3DS, but I recently got into CAD modeling, so I decided to see what I could do here.
I added a drawer, mostly because I didn't want to have one of my first prints be a giant block of plastic, so I created a hollowed area in the back. I put the Japanese logo for Pokemon RGB on it, since my 3DS is the special Blastoise/Charizard edition. The charger should fit snugly in that little channel I have, then the wire should pinch into the groove on the bottom. I did add little bumps to help register the 3DS in place without adding too much stress to the charging port, but again, I'm not sure how well it will fit.
I'll post pictures as soon as I'm able to print this. In the mean time, if any of you happen to try this out, let me know if it works!
