There are quite a few belt tensioners for y axis of the Anet A8, but I was not realy satisfied with them. So I decided to create my own design.
The tensioner is attached to the main frame of the printer. It's basis is fixed and shouldn't move at all. To stiffen the frame I use this thing in addition: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2152976.
You can use some spare 30mm M3 screws to tighten or loosen the tensioner. Movement is about 5mm. The position of the lever can be adjusted precisely because metal screws and screw nuts are used instead of the rather coarse threads used by other designs.
The plastic pulley is additional. It`s equipped with MR63ZZ bearings. You could also use the original pulley but you would need to fix it somehow in axial direction.
The position of the pulley and the dimensions of my design are similar to the original design. That's important in case you have other modifications on your printer which could interfere with this mod.
Following parts will be needed:
- 4 x M3 16mm
- 2 x M3 18mm (from Anet kit)
- 2 x M3 30mm (from Anet kit)
- 8 x M3 nut
- 2 x MR63ZZ (optional for the teethed pulley)
- 2 x washer (for original pulley)

Changed the lever to V1.1. Added a small support for better centering of the pulley axis.
I added a picture with the original pulley. You need to apply a washer on each side of the pulley to keep the pulley centered.
Did small modifications to the lever and the shaft. Removed old versions.
All parts are made of PETG, but PLA should be ok as well.
