Several folks are swapping out the default fan with a lower voltage one that runs much quieter. This usually means including a buck converter - Would it be possible to add mounts for a buck converter to the underside of the lid? The vast majority of them are 20mm x 45mm with two offset mounting holes, but I can't seem to find any diagrams for their exact location.

Hello, i made one of these 'the one in 2 parts) but since i have installed it i have an issue.
The vibrations of the 40mm fan are really annoying ; someone have the same problem ?

I have à second question do you think to create the same cover for bigger fan ? like 50mm ou 60mm ?

Aniwayu thank you for your work

Maybe a noobish question, but how do you slice the fan lid with cura? Does it need supports and should it be flat ?

Thanks.

I and a few others have printed the standard cover recently and it doesn’t quite fit with the 3 smoothers installed. The rear of the smoothers hits the rear cross beam and cannot close. I think it would be helpful to move the mounting points for the smoothers forward 2-3mm.

I have the same problem :-( The lid wont close with the smoothers mounted, so I had to give up mounting this before i broke something in frustration :P

Checked in with a few others that have messaged me with similar problem. It appears if you have an Ender 3 with the new logic board, it is slightly higher. As for the Smoothers hitting the back beam, it may be a result of some companies using different PCB boards for their Smoother modules. I cannot design for all possibilities, and my personal Ender 3s are now completely altered to no longer have the stock control box at all.

Best I can offer, it that if you have a newer model wit the new logic board, the Smoothers have shown to have limited (if any) affect on the print quality. Sorry, but thanks for the feedback.

Since this the lid sits on-top of the control box, couldn't you just make the lip around the perimeter a few mm taller?

I was able to take your design and move the smoother mounting points forward 3mm and it cleared everything fine. If you'd like I can send you the STL to post or you can move yours forward 3mm to accommodate the others with issues. Let me know if you'd like my version. Thanks for the design and response! Works well with that slight mod.

I would love the file if possible? :-)

TeslaFan01 - Do you have a modified one with the fan cutout as well?

No, I do not. I'm sorry.

Nice box. Printed it and put in the smoothers but X and Y movement is now really hanky. Did you have to up the stepper voltage?

I would love to see version compatible with https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2981976

Does smotthers do any good to ender 3?

I don't know what you mean by "hanky" but I did not change anything on mine once installed. Did you make your own smoothers or buy pre-made? Are they four or eight modules?

Question for Mrfochs... Did the smoothers help your prints?

I've noticed less jerking with the smoothers, and possibly a decrease in db. I recently took the smoothers off to see if I noticed a change, and I did, so I put them back on.

I did notice some improvement on faster prints and especially on "vase mode." I don't think it is a necessity by any means.
