Have you ever used a banana hook before? They work great until your down to one banana then your hook will no longer hold the banana! This inspired this project. I wanted a way to hold my bananas because they are said to stay fresh longer if they are hung up. So I decided to use Gravity!
The banana holder is simple you push up on it and the grabber opens then you let gravity pull down on the bananas and the grabber will grab hold. the heavier the bananas the tighter the grabber will hold them to ensure that they do not drop.
I printed in PLA but this is optional
No Supports!! Once printed everything will hinge correctly, supports will cause it to fail.
Increase the scale uniformly to 120-125% for the best size banana holder.
Remove the filler form the bottom of the Scissor grabber (I used Plyers and It popped right out)
Clip the mounting brackets to the banana grabber
- Connect the two mounting brackets together with a dab of glue ( the glue is mainly just to hold them together for the final mounting process) (See Figure 1)
Take the 3 Thumbtacks and break away the plastic head. you should be left with 3 small metal nails.
holding the base/head of the nail with plyers use the lighter and heat up the nail until it glows red.
- Push the heated nail into the grabber's head
Repeat steps 5 and 6 two more times, there should be two nails on one side and one centered on the other (see Figure 2)
Using the two small screws mount your banana holder under a cabinet.
- Congratulations! You have Finished!
