This is designed to be an improvement on the current raptor reloaded / phoenix / reborn hand tensioner screw/printed adjuster system. This offers the ability to avoid the usage of screws on the device and allows for adjustment without tools.
Ideally I wanted to re-design the whole tensioner block to better allow for a system like this. Unfortunately I don't have the time. I did design a similar system for a hand that we printed at school. The tensioner system was promising.
THERE ARE SOME VERY IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN PRINTING SCREWS AS IMPORTANT AS THIS. If you give this device to a child and it breaks 10 minutes later you aren't helping anyone. However, this can work.
- Print screws laying down so the stress doesn't act on layer lines.
- Cut screws in half when printing laying down so they can have flat contact on the build plate.
Cutting this screw in half works EXTREMELY well! it allows for the whole screw to flex an incredible amount because the neutral axis of the material is now allowed to move. The nut and the string keep everything where it is supposed to be but it can slide if caught on clothing, etc. I cut it in half in slic3r.
