I wanted to re-use some plastic soda bottles as seed starters but needed a base to keep them upright and stable. I ran through a few prototypes and ended up with this. Cut a bottle in half, screw it into the base, drop in a cotton ball and fill with some soil (ish material). No problem keeping even a 2L bottle upright. Drain holes in the base keep everything from becoming waterlogged.
I used Hatchbox PLA with quick print settings. Printing surface was kept at 60 and the print-head temp was 215 for the first layer(s) and 210 for the remainder. No issues with layer adhesion.
