This is a solid model of one of the four swoops that appear on Leo's Brynhildr tome. Since the model is symmetrical, you only need to print 4 in total, no flipping required!
The back of the model is flat with the intention to be glued directly to the book of your choice. I used this book box so I had somewhere to stash things during a con: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KSD2KEI/
The STL may be a bit undersized when imported for slicing, I print it at 61.4x180x8.3 and then rotated at 45% to fit the bed with a brim. This size is intended to fit this paper mache book box:
There are additional embellishments that will take up space on the design, so if they look a little small, trust that once the corner guards and binding guards have been applied, it will be in proportion.
I bumped up the walls to 3 for stability/durability. I left it at the Cura default 20% infill but it can likely be reduced or removed entirely. I'll update after I test.
NOTE: the connection between the diamond and the thinnest part of the swoops is delicate and only 4 layers deep on Fine (0.1mm) slicing settings. Care should be taken when removing a brim to ensure it doesn't break.
This model was the first I made from individual cubes and extrusions, so it was a pretty formative piece in my 3D education. Each swoop started as its own piece and they were then joined together once I was satisfied with the sizing and arrangement. A subsurface modifier was added afterward joining, then the model was duplicated and flipped. A final join and some finessing of the joint and here we are!
