Print Thing TagSummary
This is the Moon Rover for the moon base. It runs either with R/C controls ( I use the cheap 10A ESC without brake options) or a dual esc of your choosing. Alternatively , it also runs using an Arduino and 298:1 N20 motors driven with a single L293D I/C.
FPV camera of your choice.
Tracks and main wheels are the Pololu 30T and with this chassis there is an optional idler wheel to run for aesthetic reasons mainly.
Inspiration for this came from the brilliant MOON film, and although similar this isnt an accurate representation but seems to catch the flavour of the Sarang Rover featured in the film.
Post-Printing
Printed in either PLA or PET-G and doesnt seem to require any supports. I painted it with aerosol car paint and then picked out various details with Tamiya acrylic hobby paints. A wash of water and black ink gave it some weathering. Metallic gold sharpie was used for the rear deck grilles, perhaps they use gold filters.
Arduino drive is using a NRF24 connected to a raspberry Pi and Flask server with custom code in python to keep it simple. One to one connections for multiple rovers, and will be using RF24 Mesh to optimise the range. I've made some PCB's and working on rev 2 and will make them available if there is interest.
