This for a lesson with high school Earth Science Students.
Overview and Background
Science teacher will have taught students about biomes and biodiversity in class before coming to the library.
Students will have been assigned partners, given a biome, and sketched an original animal with specific adaptations for that particular biome.
Lesson Plan and Activity
Learning Activity 1: Day 1 - (last half of class) - 45 min
-Media coordinator will demonstrate the in Tinkercade tools, then have students perform the tool.
-adjust the grid to 0.1
-demonstrate constantly moving the object around 180 degrees and why
- show geometric tools
-moving object 360 degrees
-show how to rename a file
We will create an animal together: A dog w/ pointy feet & a club tail (lives in desert= pointed feet b/c of hot surfaces, clubtail to get prey)
Media coordinator asks students what shape should be used for each body part. (There can be variations).
Cylinder for body
Cone for legs & ears (show copy & paste for legs & ears)
Sphere for head
Use hole feature for eyes, using the cylinder
-show grouping objects as add more shapes
-show how to move objects up & down using black arrow
-show how to resize objects
Assessment Prompt for LA 1:
Completed dog-like animal - similar to mine, checkoff on rubric level of effort.
Learning Activity 2: Day 2 - Whole class period
Students create their own animal, working in pairs
