I hated always seeing movie and game cases laying around on the entertainment center or floor. I also have been thingint for years about making a stand to hold the case for the movie that was playing so everyone could know what was on, and we could find the case when it was over. Now I have a 3D printer so, today I designed and printed the solution!
I tweaked this version from my original. I removed a portion of the back supports but made them slightly longer and thicker. Mine was almost ready to tip over.
You may need to add some weight somehow if it is tippy.
Also, let me know if a wall hang-able version is desired.
I printed the box as 1 piece.
Then the marquee with a layer pause so I could change filament
I believe this is going to show up as 1 large .STL with everything.
I attached a .cdr file which is really a .zip of each part separate. just rename the extension to .zip and extract.
This thing was made with Tinkercad. Edit it online https://www.tinkercad.com/things/cekF7tF5PGl
At .03 layer heights the box prints in 5 hours. (I printed at .03 but the layers did not bond well. your mileage may vary.)
At .02 layer heights the box prints in 9 hours and the marquee in 2.5
Printing in dual colors
At .02 layer height and initial layer height of .03, I paused at the beginning of layer 16 to swap to white filament.
I then used CA Glue and a quick dry helper to glue the marquee to the box.
Lets fix this mess.
Marquee was CA glued on afterwards.
Back. The curent version has trimmed out a sectin of this but thicked it up to 5mm from 2mm. Also holowed out the center for quicker printing.
