A witcher medallion for the school of the bear, modelled after my own design to fit the style of other schools' medallions.
If you would enjoy owning this medallion printed in metal or a higher quality plastic, please consider dropping by my shapeways store.
I'm a big fan of the Ursine armour set in The Witcher 3 and I've been wanting a medallion to go with it ever since I first played the game. I've seen some other versions floating around the internet, but none free to print and none that I was completely happy with visually, so I decided to make my own. Since there's no official design, I tried to go for something that would pick up the style of the other schools a little, while still having its own distinct look. Let this medallion help you detect magic in your everyday monsterhunting routine and show your allegiance to the school of the bear!
I'm relatively new to 3D-modelling and -printing, but this piece printed nicely for me, so I hope it works out fine for anyone else that wants to give it a try.
Enjoy and let me know how yours turned out!
The supports are only neccessary for the upper teeth. Mine (same material as main print) removed nicely without any traces.
I prefer my medallions everyday-wearable in size; if you want yours for cosplay, consider scaling it up a little bit.
Like my school of the cat medallion (by 3D-mon), I painted my bear with acrylics, using a basic steel colour all over before adding blemishes, depths and highlights with a darker, tarnished colour and a lighter, silvery one. I like to give my metal pieces several generous clear coats to smooth them out and add some shine and irregularities (like pushing in scratches after the coat is mostly dry).
I personally much prefer the effect this gives me over my storebought wolf medallion. A witcher's medallion won't stay pristine for long, after all!
