Very practical, thanks a lot! :-)

From experience with other things, I'd suggest to add some tolerance to the dovetail joints, though ... I think this modified line 65 might do it ("offset (0.2)" ... of course, a variable parameter would be even better):

translate([-hd/2-0.001, hd**1.5-7, -0.1]) rotate([0, 0, -90]) linear_extrude(5.2) offset (0.2) Trapez2D(4.6, 8.4, 4.1);

To be honest....the offset-command is new to me (although it obviously exists since v2015.03).
I have implemented the tolerance by two different calls to Trapez2D():

  • Trapez2D(4, 8, 4); // for the outer one
  • Trapez2D(4.6, 8.4, 4.1); // for the inner one

The result is a strong connect - while connecting requires only slight force.
I have not yet tried whether it is possible to separate two parts afterwards.

Oops, you're right - apologies, I misread your code!

(I looked for the tolerance since my printer tends to overextrude, and I often have problems getting dovetails to fit if there is no adjustable tolerance setting.)

If you can lift the entire holder by gripping it in the middle, your connection is obviously very strong! :-)
