These are the design files for my first powder test rig for an open selective laser sintering 3D printer. The project has been detailed on the reprap builders blog.

These parts are just here for educational purposes -- I've been actively developing a more capable system, which was largely based on lessons learned from this one. :)

... for testing with dark melting materials i mixed icing shugar with carbon black - worked well, but with 2Watts i evaporated post of the carbon black, so the molten material was transparent with some ugly grey enclosures ...

I would enjoy seeing some of the parts you and other make with laser sintering. :)

This is too cool. I have a 780nm 290mw laser. I have tried using it on various materials and with my power the material needs to be dark. I tried using it to melt sugar and had only very mild success. I still want to either dye some sugar or purchase some dark sugar and give that a try. I wanted to do a candyfab style print with my makerbot.
One of these days I will get to it
