I was scraping ice off of the windshield last week and realized my scraper was leaving behind more ice than it was removing as the blade was all beat up, but I didn't want to get rid of my scraper holder that went around my whole hand to keep it warm. so I got to work to make a replacement. The short version of this scraper fits in my handle (the black part of the handle in the pictures, I did not model this), but I designed one with a full handle while I was at it to have options. I really wanted to be able replace the blade when it got all chipped up, so it is designed to be used with old gift cards cut to size and slipped into the slot at the front, then I can just replace it when it gets chewed up. I also added frost deflector technology (the little curvy bit at the front, see the third picture) to redirect the frost away from my hand, I'm debating whether I should make this a little bigger, I'll decide after testing it some more to see how well it works,
I've only gotten to use it twice so far on light frosty days, and haven't decided how much of the card should stick out for optimal performance yet, but the amounts shown in the pictures both seemed to work. I'm also not really sure how long a gift card will keep its scraping edge before it needs replacing, but I welcome any feedback on these topics and I will update this section if I get new info.
Print it on its side with support material on the bed surface only. I used PETG but ABS should work as well. Not sure PLA is a good idea if you leave it in the car during the summer months, it might get a little melted.
