Nice try, but some serious design issues with the fan duct, it simply is not a good way to secure the fan mount to tthe bracket. The duct is way too close to the the nozzle and melts it. Then the screw that connect the fan mount to the bracket has too little material and breaks all the time. I'm on my 8th print of the duct bracket. Close lovely aesthetics, but not mechanically sound. The actual E3D Bracket is good and sturdy although if you use PLA / PETG it breaks off on the top lip that clips over the metal x axis chassey. ABS and ASA coped better,
I was using ABS and ASA

anyone lose about 15mm on the Y Axis?

will this work with the direct drive drivinator?

August 26th 2019 - SORRY EVERYONE! I was away in Europe on my honeymoon for 3 weeks and work has been very busy the past couple weeks since my return. I am now catching up on the hundreds of comments and requests across all my makes here on Thingiverse. Please bear with me while I get back up to speed. - Mediaman

Hi. Nice design. I need to adapt it to fit my E3D V6 Basaraba Direct Drive setup. Basically I need to move the hot end 2mm closer to the base plate so the hot end aligns with my extruder. I am using the V2 mount. I can make the change but Sketchup is making it impossible when I import the STL. Any chance you can post the SKP files (or any 3d modeling file format Sketchup will read). Thanks

I am having an issue with wire management. The hotend wires are interfering with the cooling fan. Using zip ties but would like a better solution. Can you make a version of the V6 clamp with channel for fan duct to have a place to wire tie the hotend and thermistor wires to the mount to keep them out of the way of the fan?

Hi Guys,

I have got from a friend some no-name Volcano hotend without cooling fan and fan mount. I have stock 40mm fan and 5015 cooler (previously used Hero Me with Microswiss.

Can you advise me, what can I print as a mount for 40mm cooling fan?

I've just tried printing the minimalistic mount for a cheapy V6 but found it far too flexible compared to the stock mounting (I printed it in petg). I went back to stock head and upgraded the ptfe.

For ender 3 pro. had a lot of trouble printing this one for one 5015 fan. . Did in pet G I printed it to 245 and 75 nozzle and head. The holes in the stirrups to for the part cooling fan with the wrong size are really way too small slots had to carefully enlarge those a little there's not much room to do that.
I don't anticipate it will last too long with it seems to really work well to cool parts and keep my new e3dv6 for layer cooling.
I printed the one with the one sided 5015 fan and the arm broke off twice 2 walls..50% in full. so it's just held on by friction or seems to work okay.
One of the hex nuts didn't fit in the hot end mount. It Is the one I can't reach with a wrench. 30 mm mm3 are hard to find and not the correct long screws for the hotend Mount. 25 millimeter is the correct size. This is not seem like a very mature model. Lots of design problems.
The whole thing of the e3dv6 and this route was quite a chore I like a challenge

Is this compatible with the stock cooling fan and shroud that comes with an Ender 3?

Sorry no and no. This is for an E3D V6 hot-end which takes a 30mm fan (as in the pictures) and a 5015 radial part cooling fan, which is not stock. The mount point for the part cooling fan is compatible with fan mount parts of this well known Heavy duty cooling system: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2494642 I believe this part will give you what you need (along with my mounts): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2802781

HD-Modular Mount Wing for CR10 stock radial fan

Forgive the ignorance but.. What length, and quantity of M3 flat head screws do I need?

I'm mounting just an E3D v6 hot end, and a 5015 fan to an Ender 3.

I believe I'll need the two screws to hold the hotend bracket, and two screws for the fan mount? I can't seem to determine the required length for them tho.

Thanks in advance!

So, I wound up buying an assortment from Amazon, but here's what I ended up using.

2x 6mm M3 - Fasten the E3D v6 mount to the gantry
2x 25mm M3 - Fasten the E3D Bracket to the E3D v6 mount
1x 10mm M3 - Fasten the fan duct to the E3d v6 mount
1x 20mm M3 - Fasten the 5015 fan to the fan duct

Also 4x M3 nuts, used for everything except fastening the E3D v6 mount to the gantry (the gantry has machined threads).

Is there any elegant way to make this dual cooling? I love two things about this mount -- the very light weight for faster printing and how incredibly easy it is to work on parts without needing to take out a million bolts. If dual cooling is possible without sacrificing these things, then this would be the ultimate mount.

I intend to make a cooling duct and mount for the other side. I am working out how to do that and adapt the ABL sensor mounts to accomodate this idea.

Hi, thanks a lot for this! Do you know if this would be compatible with a direct drive setup (BMG Bondtech / clone with pancake motor on top), or the top part would need to be modified for that? Thanks!

I suppose it is possible. I do not have a direct drive (there are several types and brands) setup to test against. When I get a couple other updates to my Hero Me mounts done, I can look into other E3D V6 mounts for direct drive to see what type of adaptation I would have to make for it to mount above and be stable. Remember this is my Minimalist design. ;)

Thanks! The one I'm referring to can be seen in the scroll-down-pictures from this shopping link (I'm not affiliated with them etc. etc. but there is good info there about the direct drive mounting): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32950787714.html

Hey, i am completely overwhelmed.
I have an Ender 3 and would like to change to an e3D hotend with EZABL.
I printed already a model from Thingiverse, but the print fan doesn't fit in the hole.
Is there any model where i can attach the new hotend and the ezabl with the old fans that are at the ender 3?
Thank you!

Try the Hero Me Gen2 design I've made that works great with the Ender 3 (and stock parts) here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3182917

Hero Me Gen3 - CR-10/S Ender 3/Pro/5 OEM Hot-end

Any chance you're planning on modifying this for the cr10s pro?

Yes, it is on my to-do list. I don't have a target date yet, but I would like to complete in in the next couple of weeks.

Where are you at with this mount designed for the CR10S pro? I am looking at getting one and the first thing I plan on modding is the hot end.

Sorry, it will likely be a couple weeks yet, as I am away in Europe on a business trip. I won't be back until the end of May.

Thx for this great lightweight mount. That's the kind of solution I was looking for.
If possible, it would be advantageous if the screws for fastening the BL-Touch were recessed.

I think there is room to do that. I will try to get in done this week.

Hey dear, any chance of a version with dual 5015 fans on both sides instead of one side with ABL?

I’ve been away in Florida for a few days (back tonight). I will add the to my backlog of items. I should be able to get this done in the next week.

I also plan to switch stock part fan for two 5015. But also still keep using BLTouch :D
ATM I am using Your Hero_Me_OEM_4010_Duct_Gen2c.stl which blows from two directions.
I wonder if there is much difference between using one or two 5015 in terms of cooling effect.
Anyway, this minimalistic approach seems really sexy to me, especially for fast easy access to heatend!
Good job Mr. MediaMan!

With two 5015 fans, you can run each at 50% power get better results than the 4010 fan, and have a quieter result as well. The Minimalist was not designed with two fans in mind though (hence the name Minimalist). To get both fans and the BLTouch, you really should consider my Hero Me Gen2 designs here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3182917 and here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3433619

So I guess for the time being, I am sticking with already awesome https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3291101 !

Hero Me Gen 3 E3D V6 - CR-10, Ender 3, & clones

Hi! Awesome minimalist design! I would love to use it but unfortunately can't fit my hot end on it. I have a Precision Piezo Orion probe (https://www.precisionpiezo.co.uk/product-page/precision-piezo-orion-kit) and it's quite chunky. I'm trying to fit it into the mount for the Volcano to try and compensate for the lost height after installing the probe.

The problem is that due to the size of the casing around the probe it doesn't quite fit. See picture for an idea of the problem. Would you be so kind to update a version that accommodates for the extra clearance needed for this? From my measures it needs an extra 6.1mm clearance.

Thanks very much for your great work!

Hey, never mind! I published a remix to accommodate that. Feel free to drop my STL in your thing here if you'd like.

DEPRECATED: E3D Minimalist for V6 & Volcano on Creality CR10/S Ender 3/Pro and clones - Precision Piezo Remix

Sorry for the delayed reply. I’ve been away in Florida for a few days (back tonight). Thanks for the remix! I will add it to the make and give you the credit.

Have been using this setup with a bltouch and must say it works fantastic my prints now come out like glass
great work !
Thanks

Thanks! I appreciate hearing about your success with my design!

Thanks for this great design, is there any chance on a DC42 ir probe mount in the future ?

I don't know anything about the DC42 IR probe. I would need measurements, position requirements, etc. Pictures would help greatly. If you can get me this info, I will add it to my backlog of requests. With what I am doing now, and being out next week, it will likely be after the 25th before I could work on it.

The EZABL bracket in this model sits too high for the EZABL Mini, the mini has a screw at the top of its threads that prevents it reaching the bed. I grabbed a bracket from a different model but i thought you would like to know.

Thanks I will post a version of the mount bracket for the EZABL Mini this weekend.

I sure like this design! However, I had a little wobble in my volcano hot end, as it is only held at the top.

Instead I went with your other design, rock solid!

Hero Me Gen3 for E3D V6 Volcano CR-10, Ender 3/Pro Ender 5

Thanks for the feedback! Interesting, they both are only held at the top (that's the E3D design). I will check my collar for the E3D Minimalist against the Hero Me E3D V6 Volcano to see what the difference is and correct for any looseness.

Can you design a mount for the EZABL mini?

The inserts for the EZABL Mini are now posted to the E3D Minimalist make on Thingiverse.

I have spacer inserts for the EZABL mini to make it fit in the current EZABL mount. I have them posted on another make. I will add them here.

I noticed the mounts use tapered screws to attach it to the printer, any way to redesign it to use flat necked screw type?

Your request has been completed. Versions of the V6 and Volcano E3D Minimalist mounts have been updated to work with flat head M3 screws. Both are now supported. The flat head versions have 'v2' in the filename.

Which do you want first, V6 or Volcano mount?

V6 with Duct mount please

Your request has been completed. The versions with the 5015 duct mounts for the V6 and Volcano E3D Minimalist have been updated to work with flat head M3 screws. Both are now supported. The flat head versions have 'v2' in the filename.

I'm having troubles finding a compatible 5015 cooling duct design that will work for the E3D Minimalist, would you mind pointing me in the right direction if you are aware of any? Thanks!

There are plenty of part cooling fan mounts that use the extra screw mounts on the X gantry, there are also ones that mount to the 30mm hot-end cooling duct, and finally I am designing one that I hope to post this weekend that will use a 5015 fan on the right side leaving the mount points on the left for ABL sensor options (or another fan). In the mean time Here are a couple examples: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:839620 and another: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2191664 The thing is my minimalist design lets you mix and match, find what works for your setup.

E3D-v6 Dual Fan Cooling Duct for Prusa i3v

Thanks so much for the quick response, I appreciate the help!

some of these are good for cr-10s Pro?

These have not been tested on the CR-10S Pro, as I do not have one. From my viewing a number of YouTube reviews of the CR-10S Pro, it looks to me like the mount points on the X gantry have changed. I would need a photo with hole placement measurements, or a mechanical drawing, or an accurate 3D model of the CR-10S Pro to make design changes (if needed).

Do you mind sharing STEP files or the native CAD files used? Thank you

This was done in TinkerCAD. A link to the public copy of these parts is in the summary description.
