I made a picture viewer. Some might know these from childhood. In Germany they were called Plastiskop.
The difference here is, you dont turn to the next picture by clicking, you turn a wheel to get to the next picture.
I printed some pictures on transparent sheet with my ink jet printer (Size 70x 52px).
You wont get good quality pics with those sheets, but it is much cheaper then slides.
Cut out the pictures and glue them on the wheel with the picture frames.
After that you take the other frame wheel and glue both together.
Then you insert a bearing into the case front.
After the glued part is ready you press the turning wheel through the wheel with the pictures. Take care the turning wheel is not blocking the view on the pictures.
Then glue the turning wheel and the picture wheel together.
While the glue is drying put a little white sheet into the case. You will need this, otherwise you cant see the pictures very well when you are done.
I took some sticky tape to secure the paper.
Thin paper is better here, because more light will get through.
Take a look at my uploaded pics if this part is not clear.
When the glue is dry, you can insert the wheels into the case.
Start with one side and push the turning wheel through the gap in the case. Go on with the other three sides.
Dont be afraid, it wont break. I already made 6 of these. None of them broke.
After the wheel is inside push it into the bearing.
Try if you are able to turn the wheel.
When you are done, just glue the front and the back of the case together and finally, glue the screen to the front.
I also wanted to add a lense... but i didnt find a working one. And scaling up a 70x52 px pic isnt a good idea anyway.
Beside your normal printing material you will need the follwing things:
- 1x bearing (outside diameter: 8mm, inside diameter: 3mm, thickness: 4mm
- Some transparent sheet.
- White paper
You will need support for the front of the case.
No support needed for the rest of the parts.
