This is a powered air-supply respirator. I designed it to provide filtered air to the 3M Versaflo faceshield-assembly. But it could be modified to work with a wide variety of respirators. It is powered by a Milwaukee M12 Battery.
I have wanted a Versaflo system for wood-turning for a long time. But the $1200.00 to $1600.00 was way too much. I looked at the TREND AIR/PRO Airshield but I didn't like the proprietary batteries and the $60.00 filters. The Airshield costs $400.00. The parts for my Air Supply is about $55.00 plus printing supplies. The 3M Versaflo Face-Shield Assembly and hose was about $250.00. The whole thing is about $90.00 less than a Airshield.
For the non woodworkers the TREND AIR/PRO Airshield is a all in one system for dust control.

This design is simple with six major parts.
First is the filter holder that holds two HEPA filter for iRobot Roomba 800 900 series vacuum cleaner.
The second part is the air chamber. It holds a Resinta Activated Carbon Filter and the fan is mounted to the back.
The third part is the Fan Housing It surrounds the fan.
The forth part is the Back Cover.
The Fifth is the Battery Holder and it has fore parts. Battery holder, switch housing, fan speed control board and the cover and it is mounted to the side of the unit with screws.
The sixth part is the Hose adapter this attaches to the top of the fan. I put the unit together with fore pieces of all thread, acorn nuts, Knurled nuts and screws.
I added a belt to the air supply. I found it in the camping area of Walmart. I used a soldering iron to melt holes in the belt. Then I attached the belt by replaced two of the acorn nuts with two Double Tab Spot Weld Nut. I found them at Ace Hardware. Both belt and nuts are also available from Amazon.
The unit will accept any of the M12 Batteries. I run the unit for two hours with a 2 amp battery and it still had one bar when I put it back into a drill.
