My Dyson vac cleaner head brushes stopped spinning because the impeller cracked in half. Couldn't find a spare part anywhere, and didn't want to spend $150 on a new one. So drew it, printed it, fitted it and all good again. Dare say works better than the original ;)


printed 0.2 and fine on UP mini, but I think quite forgiving. Position of shaft can be adjusted slightly (may need to be), but this is easy as is a press fit. Let me know if you have had this problem and I will "talk" you through it..

Hallo, da hast Du ein Super Ding gezeichnet. Da es kein Original Ersatzteil gibt, hab ich es gedruckt und die Bürste arbeitet besser als zuvor mit de original Turbine, danke für Deine Bemühungen.

Legend. I used to love Dyson, until they made me buy a whole new turbo head because they designed this one part to flimsyly. If only I had a 3D printer then... well at least I can fix the old one now. Disgraceful of Dyson though - $1 plastic = throw out whole turbo head and replace. I argued with them on the phone, as they used to be much better at providing the actual failed part. Seems their customer service has gone downhill lately. THis is the way of the future - customer can fix their own stuff when supplier tries to rip you off.

Hi, great work on the impeller! My Dyson Turbo head pooped the bed yesterday. I was just getting ready to pull the trigger on a used unit on Ebay when I read about your model.

The shaft slips a bit, but I realized that the splined section of the shaft is what should be biting the impeller, so I'm going to drop a bit of CA in there and see if it will hold reliably.

I'll report back if it all comes together. Thanks!!

Excellent - I've used a version of this impeller as the heart of my WIP dust extraction system (scaled and with a slightly edited bore shape) :D

Could you please share the impreller that suits this case?! or at least the scale ratio ?!?! Cause i am printing it right now, and the impeller looks really small in it... Thanks in advance

What impeller housing did you end up using? I need to make a blower, and this thing looks about the right size. I use only openscad, so complicated models like that are beyond my skill.

I wound up working on something else before I finished! I did get as far as http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:229657 but I don't think it's so suitable for a blower (I was after a sucker, so there are 6 outlets). As to complicated models, I take it you mean the impeller? I have a feeling that sort of thing is possible, although not easy in OpenSCAD. I have a feeling the hull() operator and a for-loop could be the answer!
