Under the pretext to tell to Thingiverse people about pp3dp and their faulty Mini printer.

Up printer NOW IT´S DOWN.

I received a mini Up printer from pp3dp on 07 November 2012 and I have had a lot of problem with it. The mini came with an unlevelled platform up to 1,7mm and lacks of any levelling mechanism.

I sent them a lot of mails but Pp3dp people are joking with me and I feel cheated. I contacted with his manager Joseph Guo that at first seems to be willing to help, but finally hi does the same, never respond directly to my questions but tergiversate them. They repeated all the time to put some paper here and there to adjust the platform and advised me over and over to use the beta software to level the platform, but it does not work in my computer and make things even worse. My previous comments on their blog have disappeared and probably my last one will even not be published at all. They offered to me to send the printer back but I will lose the shipping and the taxes I paid. That is no fair and It’s not just money. I want to get some justice. They sell printer as OUT OF THE BOX that it’s very far to be true.
After I spent my entire holiday time modifying the platform, today, Sunday 25 November 2012, I finally manage to modify the printer adding a levelling platform mechanism, but the printer vibrates a lot and still I have not been able to print something decent. Also any time I initialize the mini it lost his Z zero point and I have to set it again.
The mini has been so cheaply made that due to the weak clips it would not last too long.
My Mini came with one clip broken and anther broken up when I take off the platform.

Delta system knows that the mini has a lot of problems but still today they are commercializing it anyway.
I cannot understand how there are there people making positive review of the up mini printer.
Anyway, I KNOW that there are a lot of people that have had the same issue than me. I will start a campaign on the Web to inform people about the way delta Micro System is cheating people. I really hope no one will fall anymore into being cheated by Delta Microsystem.

I will update this post.

Why don't you post the email correspondance - non redacted - so we can all see for ourselves how bad they treated you? From what you've described, that would be about as "just" as you can get because it will reveal both sides perspective. If they took your case as a laughing matter, and you proved that by showing us exactly what they said, that would do them a lot more harm than just you saying that's what happened.

i also had this problem when i first started using my printer, i have had reasonable success with the leveling beta version of their software. It's still not perfect but it is significantly better than it was before.

Just reposting a comment from ahd71 (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:30893)http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... which may get your printer working:

Hi All. It seems like it's now officially replacement parts for the ones that didn't survive international shipping. :-)
See http://www.pp3dp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2041#p10374http://www.pp3dp.com/forum/vie...

It would be nice if they made a more public announcement to help out people in similar situations...

Up Mini Linear Rod Clip
by Angus

then again, if you buy a kit and build the printer yourself, if anything goes wrong YOU know how to fix it, when you buy from a closed source company everything is rushed through production so they can make as much money as possible as fast as possible.

PS.. kits are far cheaper and after you build it yourself you take alot more pride in your printer and your prints

The issues I had were easily fixed but yes it doesn't work out of the box. Find me something else which can do this though for $1200.

I know a few people who have had broken clips but afaik they have all been able to get issues sorted with retailer in a few days.

Mine too was not level. But I used a piece of Vero Board (PCB prototyping board) on one side to level the board.

Also when you print the smaller fixing mount so that you remove some of the bow, try it without the fan blowing on it (Toggle the gate on the fan mount).

As for the broken clip. If that was damaged in transit then PP3DP should send you a new one. Be bad form on their part not too.

To stop warping in it's track, use Aceton melted down abs as a paint. Paint this on the perforated board, and your pieces should not warp.

It's a shame that PP3DP are like that but with a few more lost sales they will get there act together or go bust.

Hi, mine
came 1.7mm unlevelled and no way to level the platform the way you did. I
finally managed to modified and add a levelling mechanism that works, but still
the mini does not print well. I think the problem now is the broken clip that
makes vibrate the printer a lot.

Many thanks I really appreciate your help.

Join Google Makerbot Operators Group and cry in our coffee. I'm pretty sure we can help.

 Thanks PropellerScience...

It's not a Makerbot Industries product, wrong group.

 Thanks you too Marcus

"They offered to me to send the printer back but I will lose the shipping and the taxes I paid."  so instead of just being out of the taxes and shipping by sending it back you don't even have a working printer to show for any of it? don't get me wrong i understand what your doing here i just think you should of took them up on the offer and sent it back. use the refund money to buy a printer from a company with better customer service and software that actually works with your  computer.

Hi, I broken any
relationship with Delta Micro factory and really I do not want to have
nothing to do with them.

But be sure that at the end I will make the printer works.

Thanks anyway my friend.

What companies HAVE better support service?
And printers that work right out of the box?
