Print Thing TagSummary
This simple support for a dial indicator is designed to create a versatile measuring tool. It can be used to level the bed of a 3D printer or a CNC router. It can also be used as a fixed gauge in which when putting any piece under it, we will obtain the measurement by reading it on the screen. To the extent obtained on the screen, we must add the distance from the pointer to the base.
For its construction, I used the anchor posted at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:42305 and the support https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1607993, although I had to reinforce it to be able to support the weight of the whole.
To these two pieces I have attached a very simple crosspiece that holds the 8 mm smooth rods. I have used 250mm rods, but it is not a fixed measure and each one can use the measure that he considers most convenient.
To fix the crosshead to the rods, I used some 3mm socket cap screws. In the crosshead I have placed threaded inserts M3 x 5 x 5 mm in which the captive screws screw.
To give stability to the whole, I have made the rod to cross through the base, besides being perfectly tightened by the base jaw. In this way, the assembly is completely fixed and without vibrations.
