This is a robotics platform (base) for learning and teaching robotics. All of the stl files included are designed to snap together with no external tools or supplies.
Overview and Background
Extended chassis slightly to compensate for elasticity in track chain
Reduced diameter of bearing slightly to remove need for sanding
Use your 3D printers highest quality setting / lowest speed for the best fit. Most of the parts are built with tight tolerances so using an entry level 3D printer like the Anet A8 is fine as long as your speed is low.
use supports for the pins, everything else should be fine to print without supports
The parts should snap together but because PLA can be brittle a good strategy to prevent breaking tabs is to run them under very hot water for 60 seconds before assembly. This will make the tabs more soft and pliable and less prone to snapping.
Use model cement to assemble the parts. This will reinforce the connections and ensure the longest life for your robotic platform.
The lid piece was left flat and generic intentionally. You should modify the lid to suit your needs. You can mount cameras, arms, sensors. Whatever you can imagine.
