(Aside, how did I not take any pictures of these as I was working on them? I have video, but no pictures. I assure you, they work.)
Inspired by Astroprint, I wanted to make a model that would fail where it was supposed to, not because the slicer shouldn't put stuff between objects, but because there was no object to put stuff between. Plus I wanted to put my logo into it. I am not a humble man.
- Bring the egg and the object you want to hide in the egg into your slicer of choice.
- Move both objects to the same X and Y so they overlap.
- Move the hidden object up in the Z by 2 plus a layer thickness. So if you're printing at 0.2mm layers, the object will be 2.2mm off the build plate. If you're printing at 0.1mm it only needs to be 2.1mm in the Z.
- Print and enjoy
If you find the objects are too hard to remove, try moving it in the Z an additional layer height up, then let me know here. IF the condescension is that you need 2 layers I'll alter the instructions.
The included teddy bear can be printed single color, multi-material by ungrouping and assigning the individual parts to specific materials, or even full color if you're living in the future.
