Thank you for sharing this nice fan guard . I just print Hero me duct and want to use this guard. But the problem is I use Dual 5015 fan duct, this fan guard outer ring is to wide, It is not fit in between 5015. Could you please make another version that has smaller diameter?

Why not extend the sprues/blades to the ground, so it could print without support? Even the pinholes are bridgeable, but not the curved sprues.

I explain it in the description. Having the blades so close to the fan causes extra noise and restricts the airflow a bit more too. But you can print one of the earlier versions that are supportless, if you don't mind it.

just loaded up V8.... the entire central cone is gone.

What slicer are you using? I tested in both Cura (also with mesh fixes turned off) and Slic3r PE, in both it sliced fine.
It has a quite detailed mesh. I added a lower poly version, go try that one.

I was using Cura 3.6. the v8 STL had no central cone. Even imported the STL into Fusion and it was absent, however the STL for the v8 thats up now DOES have it. That 60MB file size is nuts though.

Then I have no idea where the problem was, since I haven't modified the original file in any way. I only added the low poly variant, when I realised how huge the original was ;)
The 60MB size was due to combination of fine export settings I used and the fact that almost all surfaces are curved, necessitating finer mesh for accurate representation.

difference between yours and this one https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3485385 ?

Silencer for 40x40mm fan (e.g.Noctua)

That one will be probably reducing the airflow a lot. Also doesn't look that nice :-D
Mine is carefully designed to guide the air in without causing the airflow to drop in any significant way.
But you can print both and test them :)
