Update I actually got to use this last weekend at zero hour endgame in Troy NY. I have to say, while it's no GoPro, the video quality is really good for $20.
I wanted an action cam for my paintball goggles, but gopro's are expensive. As well I don't particularly like the way it looks with the think mounted hanging off a goggle.
I found this $20 action cam on ebay. Checked it out on youtube. It's okay quality. Good enough for what I'm going to do with it.
I saw a housing someone made for a contour cam that I though was cool, but too big. The Sport DV cam is smaller.
So I used it as inspiration and came up with this. It's more compact. Has buttons on the top that operate the buttons on the action cam. Also, this cam has 2 mics. One in the front bottom that has a membrane on it to keep out water, so it doesn't hear that great. And one in the back that gets covered by a water tight cover if you are submerging it. I won't be so I can leave the cap of but there were 2 problems. 1, if a paintball hit it, it would really mess it up because that's also where the SD card goes and some switches. 2. it picks up sound better behind you than in front. So i designed a chamber and a tube that runs along the side to channel sound from in front of you, to the back of the cam. There is also a cover that is removable to get to the sd card and charge port.
There are 2 different spacers. One has more angle than the other. this is so you can get the cam upright due to the contour of the mask.
