i broke some blades of my extruder fan with a hexnut wrench! - the awesome MBI support promised me to send one as soon as possible - in the meantime i designed a fan prothesis that can slide over the fan with the broken blades. i didn´t test it yet - but perhaps someone is more desperate than me!

REPLICATOR 2 - 100% infill, high resolution - Printing time 15min. Get rid of the blades and slide the prothesis over the fan zylinder - smale pieces of the blades will help to fix it! (i guess)

can´t test it because i will wait for the replacement fan -

if it works - tell me! than i print some for the next accident like this!

P.S. The great support from MBI send me a new Fan last week - thanks for that! - now i could test it - it should work!

Dude thank you, thank you, thank you!

You saved my ass with this. I snapped off three of the blades on my fan and the local suppliers of makerbot in South Africa are wanting to charge me R350.00 (the equivalent of $35) for this fan when I see it is $6.50 (R75) on their website.

Refused to pay that but managed to get a print of this out using some other other fans pointed at the extruder and then fitted this and it works like an absolutely bomb.

Thank you so much again, this saved my ass big time.

Going to keep fighting for a better price on the original but at least i can print in the mean time.

Cant test because hes waiting for new fan? Isnt that the point of making this? And not only is it untested, you want us to waste our valuable filament and then tell you if it works and how to print it. Sounds like a shit deal to me.... Seriously dude wtf?

First item that I have ever felt the need to comment on. Excellent - perfect fit, saved me the hassle of sourcing a new fan an the associated delays. I too broke some blades with an hex key. I used a scalpel to remove all the remaining blades and fits great.

Works great, made it in glow in the dark yellow at .2mm height and 2 shells. Quiet as the original, thanks for the design.

This works so well that I had to come back and thank you again. Thanks
fullandc! You fixed my printer.

Made one - so far so good. Thank you! There is another design on Thingiverse - it fell apart - yours is working well.

Great idea
i was stupid enough to unscrew a running fan, but you saved my day !

Printed with 20% innfill, 2 shells, 0.2mm layer height - stripped old blades, sanded it all a bit down with a small filler - and just snapped this one in place. I would say there is a 10-20% more noise and vibration - but nothing to write home about. Perfect emergency fix

Just did the same thing to my fan. I have a spare fan, but will print one of these for the broken one in case I break the spare. Thanks :)

Glad you like it!

Works like a charm on my Replicator 2. Thanks!
