Update: Design optimisations, original files in v1 files archive
Here is my updated design with a fix for the front wheels. Please refer to the instructions below.
This is a tyre mod for the OpenRC F1 project made by Daniel Noree (barspin)
You can find the project here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1193309
I had very little grip with my TPU tyres and wanted more.
I had this set of on-road 1:10 tyres lying around. I know they look a little silly but the grip is fabulous, I will eventually buy some F104 tyres.
For the rear tyres its quite simple just push the hub onto the existing wheel axle and then slot the tyre on, you will need a longer M3*12mm screw.
For the front wheels please follow the pictures and instructions below:
You will have three parts for the front, axle part 1 and part 2 and the locking nut. you will also need two M3x12mm countersunk screws, three M2x8/10mm screws and an M3 nut.
First insert the bearings into the axle Part 1, then slide it onto the existing axle, use the locking nut and secure it with the M3 screw. Next screw the second M3 screw upwards through axle P2 and then secure axle P2 to P1 with the M2 screws.
Finally put the wheel on axle P2 and use the M3 nut to lock the wheel on.
Please refer to the pictures for more information.
Please print with 4 outer walls and 100% infill. These should be as strong as possible.
