A nearly full size (for the toy) monkey to replace missing ones from your container full of primates (name changed to protect me from the copyright beasts). The texture is a little rough (fur details are still in their infancy in Makerbot printing) so you might smooth it out by immersion in acetone for 20 minutes or so. Try printing them in the appropriate ABS colors.

Created by grabbing a jpg of the plastic monkeys, reducing it to grayscale with a black background, creating a heightfield (displacement map) in Rhino3D 4.0 with a height of 5 mm, converting to .stl then making the gcode in ReplicatorG 17. Pretty straightforward print.

20 minutes in acetone and you will end up with a pool of abs!

Maybe someone could write a Brush plugin for Skeinforge to fix the fur details of an STL? ;)

I know - I've played with Blender and have been very impressed, I just have about 10 years of experience with Rhino and very little time to indulge a learning curve outside of the cupcake... Thanks for the comment!

Ha! Nicely played! I approve of this use of height fields!

Incidentally, Blender could pull this trick off as well!
