I made this from the ground up after printing the Desicant Dry box by jjlionberger (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2518453) and the Open ended funnel by mcstar https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3588930. Both worked well for their intended purpose but I thought I could improve the print times and overall volume of desiccant for use in larger containers/safes. I’m not sure if its a technical remix or not but it was definitely heavily influenced by both those parts. If you want a desiccant container that fits inside a spool then that’s a good way to go.
This part is intended for larger volumes of air like those in a large plastic bins, safes, or other large cabinets where humidity control is a factor. The base and lid have slots in them to allow maximum air exposure when the container is used lid side down on a flat surface The container will hold approx 6 oz of the 2mm desiccant balls.
I tend to print pretty thin layers so this worked well for me at .12 but it will also print well at .2.
If anyone want to design something to integrate with any of these parts the threads are M58x4 with an H6 fitment.
I use Slic3r and I printed these with 3 perimeters and 3 layers top/bottom. The three perimeters will not be used for the walls of the jar itself since it is only 1.2mm thick but they will get used in the threads and they help ensure the threads come out very smooth.
Print everything open side up so the funnel and the jar will be obvious. The lid needs to be printed upside-down.
