Summary

Here is a replacement batter compartment covering panel for the Nerf Stryfe. This allows the extra space required to install a 9V battery in the existing battery compartment.
This part is designed to print without supports.
My blog shows the other modifications required to connect a 9V battery:
http://teslaandi.wordpress.com/2014/07/12/nerf-stryfe-9v-modification/

Instructions

You can print this part without supports. When I did so it required some post-processing:

  • Trim the restraining tags to get them to fit into the slots in the gun (if you print without supports it will have a bit of droop on the underside)
  • Use a 3mm drill bit to clear out the screw hole (I added a thin blanking plate in the hole to allow it to be printed without supports)
To fit the 9V battery in, you have to cut out part of the internal battery divider, and solder on a 9v battery connector.

A 9 volt battery? tsk tsk. Get a lipo, and REALLY unlock the Stryfe's potential.

Eh. If the Stryfe wanted its potential unleashed, it would have been borne a Stampede.

if the stampede wanted it's potential unleashed it would have been born a rapid strike

no, it would have been born with a stronger gearbox. The gearbox is the only thing holding the Stampede back from being the top teir of all blasters.

if you had wanted you potential unlocked you would have been born with better aim so you wouldn't need to spray and pray with a full auto

if the stryfe wanted its full potential unlocked it would have been born a magstrike or a hyperfire with a 4s flightpack and your mesh is broken please fix it

To unlock, you upgrade the Stryfe to some brushless motors and a 4s lipo: https://www.thingiverse.com/make:395121

Anyway, thanks for the design and providing the source file. I added a small OLED screen window and drilled a hole for a knob (rotaty encoder to be precise). This way I can see the LiPo voltage and adjust the maximum speed (at 100%, the motors may reach speeds > 40,000RPM ).
