This clamp is designed to be mounted to 20x60 Aluminium t-slot style extrusion. Mounting holes are spaced 40x40 and work with M5x16 button head screws.

The clamp will work with Routers or Spindles with a 65mm diameter body. The total height of the clamp is 60mm.

The mount incorporates hexagonal nut traps for M5 nuts to aid assembly of the clamp. M5x35 screws will be long enough to secure the clamp to the mount.

A Makita RT0700C Router/Trimmer is shown fitted.

22JUL14 - The mount part has been modified slightly to increase the contact surface on the 20x60 extrusion.

11DEC14 - Added mount part to suit 20x40 extrusion. Use M5x15 to attach to extrusion.

I made a coy of this awesome desing, thank you Anthony!... i only have one comment, for the 65mm_clamp_v2 desing is much better to rotate 90 º X-Axis order to improve the quality of the piece...i have a very good piece in this way.


Hi, thanks for the kind words. The way you printed the part (rotated) is the way I had intended, it will give you a much more robust part. There was a quirk when I exported the STL from ProE which shifted the axis. When I made mine I rotated the model in Slic3r. Unfortunately, I don't have the original design files to fix the axis orientation.


This looks great, but I can't use it on an OX with a 20x40 Z axis, as it's too wide and interferes with the axle screws (and nuts). Can you upload the work files so we can tweak them as needed?

Or just make the base 50mm wide instead of 60mm?

I really like your bracket much more than the one I designed. It seems much more secure, and a bit more rigid. Mine's just a cradle with a couple hardware straps.

I designed this part in ProE, if you are able to edit this type of file I am happy to upload the design files.

In any case, I made an adjustment to the model to suit 2040 extrusion, the width at the base is 45mm and the mounting hole spacing revised to suit 2040 also.

The clamp secures quite firmly onto my router, with the screws tightened I can not move the router within the clamp at all.
In terms of tool tip movement it will never be as rigid as a metal tool holder, it comes down to what you are trying to do, if you need precision to the nth mm it may not be what you need, I use my machine mainly to cut wood and plastic and I have no issues.

Hi, I've just ordered a Shapeoko2, and it looks like the extrusions are 20x40. Can you adjust the holes for this please, or upload the design files so I can? Cheers, Greg

ps, I have been scratching my head trying to figure out where I've seen your name before. Turns out I bought one of your i3 printer kits about 18 months ago, it's still working very well :)

Cool, glad you're getting good use from it (I sometimes wonder if half the kits I sell just end up sitting there as people never get round to putting them together or using them - I'm certainly guilty of this) :-)
