anyone else made him life size yet?

Printed it and looks great , did it at 4 times the size of file and it came out at about 11 cm.

THX. This is what I need. For may friends from Stra Wars sign.

I can not get supports generated with latest cura, it tries to print in the air. Anyone have any advice?

So how does printing something like this work? I need to download it and create my own support structures for the ears? How do I create support beams on this type of file (3d object)?

Slicing programs, such as Cura, will add in most of the necessary support material for any object you want to print. This is not always perfect and you may need to add some more supports with your slicing program, but it should take care of the majority of it as long as you have supports enabled.

I saw you do not allow remixes. (I was posting with credit and the site said the license does not allow remixes.)
Would you want the below?
I wanted to share back to you or anyone that wants it.

I hollowed out the original to create a nightlight for my niece and nephew. Not much work
The light is 1 watt so incredibly low heat.
I have ran it for days now and it works great.
The flicker looks like a little soul force in there.
I printed with glow in the dark PLA (semi transparent) and I am not sure it would work with non transparent PLA.

Note: I did have to clip off one side of the cords metal insert clip to make it easier to get in and out. The circle part that wraps the light, not the leaves that you press to take in and out.

The model is mesh mixed to include supports and just print as is.
The supports have worked great on my Anet A8 cheapo but awesome printer 3 times.

I can include the blend file also if you want to modify the cavity as it could be thinner in areas.

Lighting is about 15 bucks.

This is a great job. It had to take a ton of time.

Thanks and let me know!

Update: You get so many lights that the actual build is about 8 bucks if you use multiple lights. So the cord is the most expensive part.

amazing work!keep it up!

Can we have a Mulit Part version for those of us who can't paint ?

Super vous utiliser quel logiciel pour modéliser un sujet merci

People are selling these online 20-30 each
Shame on them

recommended infill percent?

Thank you for your creation!

You are very welcome! :D

I'm not starting this again. Read the other comments. The model is not for sale!

Thank you! You're awesome!

Anyone else have issues with the supports under the model's left arm falling over mid-print? I'm about ready to add a raft to it just to get a good print going. This has happened three times now :( Other models have no issues printing in the same space, and I'm using hairspray on a glass bed and getting better than needed adhesion everywhere else.

Regardless of all that I'm still happy to print it with a raft just to get a good print. Thanks for the awesome model!

I bet the problem is the density of the polygons at the top of the robe. Also, the STL has holes in it, so I used netfabb to repair it. When I saw the polygon count and how small it is, I scaled it up 160% and decimated the meshes tremendously. If DMag24 built this by hand, no wonder he doesn't allow remixes, I'm sure a lot of work went in to this digital file.

I did also. But my problem was with the tree supports were sliced into the print about mid-section. Lower 1/3 and upper 1/3 were no problem. That middle 1/3 was too much of a pain to separate right now. I am going to reprint with standard support only touching baseplate to see how it goes.

I even went back to reslice it with tree support and went layer by layer. Sure enough it was in there. You can see clear separation from the print and its supports at line 60. But then when you get to about line 81 through about 100 you can see the support lines merge with the print.

This is with Cura 4.3.0. I know there is a new update, just haven't got around to doing it yet. I haven't had any other slices do this.
I will update with how the print turns out with standard support.

I've printed a couple of these already and am not having any issues with supports. Maybe its the bed adhesion. :(

Printed standing up on a Prusa i3 Mk3S, sliced in Prusaslicer with supports.

Model had plenty of errors, that Prusaslicer tried to fix, which caused things like the ear to be missing a bit (which it then tried to support). Model is also really small (like, 3/4" tall!) and I didn't want to oversize it and lose detail.

I have the same setup as you and I saw the same issues. In Prusaslicer, I increased the scale from 100 to 215 and the ear issue disappears.

It seems like you printed that way too small. When I printed mine, the ears and everything came out the way it is in the model. Might want to go up a couple hundred on the percentage. And I used Cura to slice it.

What orientation is everyone printing in? Standing up or laying down?

I'm planning upright with only support under the arm?

Definitely orientate him so he is standing. I'm not sure how to make ZBrush not move my models when I export them. It's really easy to just rotate him in a slicer though. I would suggest maybe just doing supports from the bed only. I didn't mine all over the place and it was way too much.

just wondering how tall is this print?

It's as tall as you make it in your slicer software. As of right now, its just a raw stl file.

So you expect tips for a model of a franchise you have no rights off .... and you try to blackmail us with the threat? Oh boy the dark side is strong in this one!

That's not how blackmail works.

You are right. Thats how mafia works! :D

I do you a favor, you do me a favor. You like doing something for nothing? It's fan art.

Pro Tip - if you want money for your work, don't threaten to not post your files on a free site.
Better yet, go post this on a pay-for site and make money

I have a few things posted here. I post that if you like it, tip me a beer, but I do not give people an ultimatum.
Your time is worth what you make it. By you spending 20+ hours on a model and giving it away fro free, that is up to you.

I have a few models I have spent more than 40+ hours on and still give away for free without the expectation of someone tipping me.
If you are going to use someone else's trademarked property and post it on a site, then expect to be paid for it? Seriously? I mean, I can see it if it was your original work, but to sculpt something someone else already made?

It is excellent work, I am just saying the way you are coming across with your "tip me or I wont post anymore" seems a bit pushy. There are others on thingiverse that are doing a lot better work than you and are still just giving it all away. Why they are doing that? no idea.

DMAG24's original post (got from my email) Whoever flagged it, leave it up!!!

First off, you must be a saint. I don't have the luxury of spending 40+ hours on something without some sort of compensation. I'm not sure how many times I can say that the model isn't for sale, but my time isn't free. I'm also not giving an ultimatum. People will be just fine without me posting on thingiverse.

As far as yoda being a trademarked character goes... Several people have made all different kinds of Yoda model and sculpture fan art over the years. I'm doing nothing different than the masses. People wanted the stl, I gave it to them.

Over 3000 people have downloaded it for free. I would honestly be super happy with just getting $1 from 100 people. I definitely don't want anything crazy like a dollar from each person that has downloaded, that's way too much.

What it all boils down to is, if people want to tip, that's totally awesome and gives me incentive to create more things. But if I get no satisfaction from creating things that I dont really have interest in making in the first place, what's the point?

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, just started watching The Mandalorian. I still wouldn't have thought to model this baby yoda like character for myself. I personally have more interest in creating original things for myself. None of which have been posted, because people wouldn't even know what the hell the characters are. So why would they want them?

Either way, thanks for the compliment. I apologize if I sounded pushy, I was just trying to explain that I can't keep spending so much time on models that I get close to nothing for.

I was wondering why this got flagged. Not like I was cussing or anything. I'm not even mad. :D

I have no idea why that got flagged either. I actually liked your response.
And I meant 3k downloads, not dollars. Would be cool to get $3k though

@DMag24
Got the email notification of your longer response as well. Just read it. I agree with you that some tips or kickbacks as a "thank you" from 3k people would be nice. I guess i was more caught up in HOW you said it. I battled that myself when i first posted my files.

Something like "If you like this and would like to see more from me, be sure to leave a tip so i can get more pixels to use." (or something cheeky like that)

Personally, I have seem some awesome original creations here and other places that i have NO IDEA where they came from but think they looked awesome.

I definitely don't want 3k, that's overcompensation. I guess I'm just not very clever with my wordage, that's no reason to be offended by it. I was just tellin it like it is, straight up. lol

I got an email of you calling me a troll. First, i have not flagged any of your comments. Personally, i would rather have a discussion than try to delete other people's posts. So it was someone else

I just deleted the comments because I didn't want to bother trying to explain anymore. Especially after someone flagged the whole thing like a douche. Someone is trolly. lol

Lastly, I'm not sure how you can compare my 1 model with others' work and say they do much better than me. I have no portfolio on here to compare with. lol I feel like that was just a cheap shot to try and ruffle my feathers.

Any interest in a multi-material version of the model? I think I could rig it up in Meshmixer to be a 3 color print for the bevy of filament changers starting to emerge...

Yes, yes, very much yes

where did u get that!?

Guy called Geoffro made that one

Thanks! Not all heroes ware capes. <3
