This is a whistle that actually makes the familiar whistle sound. No more air whooshing noise, but rather a concise loud sound.
I created this whistle after i discovered all the other whistles on thingiverse were not very good at whistling. I use it at my lifeguarding job everyday, and it has yet to disappoint me.
UPDATE 9/20/14 - I have tried to repair the stl file with no success using netfab and mesh mixer. I have now added the sketch up file so maybe someone else could give it a shot.
UPDATE 9/22/14 - Thanks to Dman12 the .stl file is now fixed! Thanks so much!

  • Print @ 300 or 200 microns
  • Remove from build plate
  • Use flathead screw driver to free pea inside
  • Give it a nice PUFF

Hi, I printed this on pla.. Print cameo out very neat, no issues look wise, this a screw driver and released the ball inside, but when I blow no sound, I see the ball moving around but no sound :(

It worked for me now, what I tried different was.. 2hile blowing I pressed both side of the whistle firmly and the it sounds good and loud, not sure why though ... Lol

This is so good! I'm a sports coach so I've tried a few designs and this is by a long way the best. Really loud and even has a pea inside (just use a small knife or screwdriver to free it after printing). Highly recommended! Thanks to crkoolkid for posting.

J'ai testé plusieurs sifflets trouvés ici et ce modèle est le plus puissant, avec un son bien fort.
Un modèle simple, solide et efficace !

Just printed, no problems. Cleared out the inside and it whistled, loudly!!

Wow finally a whistle that works !! Worked without freeing the pea, but freeing the pea made it warbly and louder. Great, thanks !!

I've printed 3 different whistles I've found here on Thingiverse. This one is by far the best of the bunch. Great job crkoolkid!

Very good design, printed it on MonoPrice Maker Select in PLA, very loud whistle.

Awesome! Printed perfectly in try DaVinci Jr. and has a nice loud sound.

Awesome. Works well. I needed to clean out the airway but then no problem. Very loud.

Prints easily, works great!

great whistle but part has all the faces inverted :( .. nothing a little time in free netfabb can't fix :D .. you can get the fixed part from here

Finally a whistle that works!
Most of the others only make ultrasonic sounds if you know what I mean...

Great whistle. I've tried several others because I wanted a unique looking one, but in the end this one is the best. It's loud and the warble of the ball is awesome. You don't have to blow that hard to get the whistle to sound, but obviously a certain amount is required to get the warble. I made 2 for my daughters to use as an emergency whistle.

Had issue with the bottom and top layers missing but ran it through all the corrections within simplify3d and it took care of it, printed it in PLA .2mm and works like a charm, sounds just like those expensive metal ones you buy but is super light, small and ridiculously loud, job well done!

Very loud whistle! Print file worked fine with PLA on the Felix Pro 1.

didn't solid top and bottom layers. File may be corrupt?

Didn't whistle for me at all. Though it printed fine.

It works great 1st time! And it printed top (whistle side) without any support - I was amazed. (FlashForge Creator Pro, ABS)

great whistle, possibly the best I've ever heard!

Printed perfectly on da Vinci Jr. with no modifications

This whistle is durable and loud as hell...I love it! Oh, it does make the classic lifeguard/police whistle sound.

Printed on my da Vinci Jr. with no issues.

did you have supports?

I'm curious about this as well.

This is fantastic, works great!

This was the most perfectly printed thing I've made so far!

Worked Great. First Try.

how do u free the pea

Stick a flathead screwdriver or butter knife into the hole on top. Position under the pea and lift up slightly. Pea is very loose. Will come off easily.

good god thats loud :D

Printed perfectly in PLA 210C, used a brim just to be safe, but dont think I had to.

works perfect but i had to use a draft on my bed as the 1st print came loose and the bottom was not as smooth as the other sides

Made one for my 2 year old son - to keep him busy. Thought that you need a serious set of lungs to make a slight noise out of this whistle. My son proofed me wrong, whistle went to the dustbin when I had the 1st chance. He will make us mad.
One seriously loud whistle.

worked perfect right out of the machine!!

  • Nozzle: 0.5 mm
  • layer height: 0.32 mm
  • Wall: 1.5 mm
  • Speed: 55 m/s
  • Material: PLA
  • Support: None

None needed. Just print it you will see.

thanks. printed one, great whistle!

I have printed several whistles on thingiverse over the last year and this whistle is by far the loudest and best print!

Made this and my Daughter LOVES IT!!! I think I may have some hearing damage now... :p

Printed on my M3D printer in PLA. Perhaps you could do another design with the look rotated 90º
Love that the Pea printed inside ready to go! :)

This thing is LOUD!! Really well made and whistles fine without even breaking the pea loose. I did have a little trouble freeing the pea but finally got it. Gave it to our Phys Ed teacher.

Wow! My dog is soooo scared of this thing! Great whistle (and effing loud).

Downloaded for my first print on my new WanHao Duplicator 5S Mini and this thing printed fantastically... I cannot believe I had such success with my first EVER 3D print. WoooHooo to WanHao! I have nothing to compare it to, but it seems a great printer.

Starting my prototype parts production tomorrow (and some cookie cutters for the wife, of course) so waiting to see how my own designs print, with some trepidation I must say.

Thanks for this thing, you made my night!

Loudest whistle I've heard!!!! Not for the kids....

Just printed this whistle as my first successful print on my new FlashForge Creator Pro. The other whistle designs are flawed, especially with regard to the internal pea not printing well, or not being round.

The pea in this whistle is round, and prints correctly inside the cavity. It's easy to knock the pea off the inner wall with a small screwdriver when it's done, and it has the expected staccato-warble tone you expect from a whistle.

And this one is LOUD! It doesn't take much wind to get it to blast. This is the best whistle design out there.

Thank you very much for your great compliment. Happy to hear that you like it.

Could you make a video that shows how you made this whistle I'm confused on how to howl out the 3d design

This is working great, but fix the STL and reupload, the top part is not good

Thanks so much! You have been a great help! I published your file and cited you in the description.

Printed with no top in MatterControl / MatterSlice. It was supposed to print with 3 top layers.

nice piece, very loud!

Upload to cloud.netfabb.com and post the result here. That will fix the slicing issues.

The file is broken, can't slice it with Slic3r.
Also can't repair it with netfabb.
crkoolkid, can you fix it?

I am still working on the file a bit. Sliced for me and others in makerware and makerbot desktop.
