Spool hanger for XYZ Printing DaVinci 1.0 printer. Hangs off the back of the machine. Has a filament guide to keep the spool from unwinding (I cleaned up the guide hole with a 5/64" or slightly larger drill bit after printing).
Set up the spool direction as shown in the photo, or it WILL unwind incorrectly.
11m of filament used as shown with normal shell thickness and high density.
To install, you have to offset the lid. This can be done by raising the lid 15 degrees then pushing the bottom rear of the lid up and toward the front of the machine as shown in the 4th photo.
Will fit most 3rd party spools 2.5" deep or less.

How do i use 3rd party filament on the da vinci 1.0

I use a piece of Hardware called XYZeroCart -just Google it. But there are many ways to hack The DaVinci to allow you to reset the filament counter and change the bed temperature and nozzle temperature. You can even do a full reflash of The DaVinci firmware to allow full access and use of slicer software.

Mine won't clip onto the back of my Da Vinci.

I'm having quite a bit of trouble creating this. I've printed twice and it keeps breaking off the glass of the DaVinci 1.0.

I use a glue stick and leveled the glass every time i've tried to print. The last time I tried, it made it halfway and then the bottom broke off. Any tips?

I use a lot of glue on the glass and do not scrape it after each use. I used to have prints come off the glass during printing until I started using more and more glue. Now they won't come off until the glass has fully cooled after the printing cycle! :)

1 - lid cannot be opened after it is installed, the space is just too tight... some slight trimming and you'll be fine.

2 - the 90deg bend that the filament makes to enter the guide is just a bit too much. I'm using ABS and I noticed on my first print that every time the head advances to the front of the machine it is drawn really tight, so the piece I made ended up having a very rough finish on the front face. I pulled out some slack and the rest of the print is fine, but this doesn't quite fly. Might just need a little TLC in the guide area.

Had a little trouble with mine. It bound up in the middle of the first print. The printer really does not like that. Did you have to sand it smooth? Also, did you have to bore out the filament guide hole any? I may try again, but I feel like I have to baby-sit it for the first few prints.

@pudnocker I didn't sand mine and it works fine. I did have to clean up the guide hole with a 5/64" -slightly larger would work fine- drill bit after printing. The printer just isn't capable of printing a nice round hole in the orientation this hanger is printed in. Once you finish it, post a pic under the "I Made One" section.

Hello, I need a remix since my spool is 102mm wide.
Unfortunately I can not draw with cad

Big Spool Holder for DaVinci 1.0

the design is great. printing my first project with it now.

You are right on, with the spool direction. i just hung the roll and threaded it into the normal filament guide. When i looked in the back there were 5 unspooled layers. I took it off, reversed it as your directions and rerolled the lose filament. Working like a charm!!

Thanks, this is much more appealing for the XYZ Printer. Besides Davinci 1.0's can only use one color at a time anyway.

P.S. I to kad to take about 1/4 in off the keeper to accommodate smaller diameter spools. Great idea, great design and great follow through!!

Thanks for the encouragement, @Chilimac45 :) When you get a second, will you upload a photo under the "I made one" section? Also, let us know what brand and colors of filament you are using.

Nice spool hanger. I just finished the first print using it, no snags or binding. A little sanding here and there for a smooth finish and I had to grind down the spool stopper a bit. Thanks!

Thanks, DoubleA. I'd love to see how it turned out. You can upload a "made" photo above :)

@Ranh316 thanks for this design. My spool was wider so took your design and stretched it a bit to fit my larger spool - uploaded as a remix, maybe it will save you a job for your rainbow spool? :-)

@ChriX thanks for the remix. Looks great! You already have several downloads on it :)

Thanks! Just the thing I needed.

Great! :)
I have had no problems at all with mine. I will be making a deeper one since I ordered an Octave 4-color "rainbow" spool which is deeper than 2.5" :)

Post a pic of your make. I'd like to see how it turned out...
