They are using arduino but you can use any MCU you want i think.
I am using ESP32 here.
I have added some light, temperature/humidity sensor and microphone for later use.
Then you can display temp/humidity or control brigtness of LEDs according to ambient light or make some cool sound level meter etc.
If you want to change something in design, Fusion360 file is included.
