It takes hours to properly design a lampshade the way Samuel N. Bernier did for the Dentelle collection :
But you don't need to be a designer to use Autodesk Shapeshifter, a parametric app that allows you to create very complex textures and shapes. Here is how we hacked it to create a Dentelle inspired lamp.

Are lamps not too warm? melting? Gr

what 3d software did you use to make this }

I did 2 lamps already playing with the shape. The problem that without supports the angle is close to 45 degrees and therefore material tempts to slid.

I post as a remix my redesigned lamp 140x140 height 130 which is printing almost ok without supports (see customization links.

I tried to use myself AutoCAD Shapeshifter (http://www.123dapp.com/sandbox) but I was not able to get anything similar to what you did in terms of shape and smoothness. Any screens of used parameters in Shapeshifter would be great.

What %infill is used when printing this design?

I'd like to make this light.

Does anyone know what lighting hardware it goes with? I'm assuming there's an ikea light that it fits...

I modified the file to fit a Home Depot work light. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:846032
