The first ones I designed worked okay - but would sometimes pop apart. This is a single piece version that has several holes through the center of the spool so you can fit your thin monofilament line through it.

  1. Print either the single spool twice or the double spool STL once - they're identical spools
  2. Press fit onto your motor shaft

Hey, thanks for the file.
I used this in my polargraph and it worked pretty well. I hot glued the spool onto the rotor because I had some wiggle issues in the beginning.
I used 59mm for the "mm per rev" variable, but I think the diameter of the spool is 20mm, right? That should make it ~63mm if you round up. Just thought I'd share that info.

Hey Dwarrenku,
I'd highly recommend using these files instead: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:73378http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

Those designs include a two-part spool which is bolted together. I way over-engineerred them, but one benefit is that they also tighten onto the stepper shaft to eliminate wobbling.
I don't remember the spool diameter, but 20 sounds about right for this version. (You could always double check the SCAD file).
