Dial Home Device top

Dial Home device is WORK IN PROGRESS

Original Design by Mikoaj Fabjaski downloaded from 3d Warehouse for Google Sketchup 8.
Used with permission From Mikošaj Fabjažski.

This is an attempt to make a somewhat working model of the Dial Home Device (DHD) to work in conjunction with the thing http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:39976 By Glitch. Feel free to use and edit at will and remember to give credit to the original designer.

The changes I made consisted of removing the solid spaces between the Gliphs.
Creating a solid base and putting holes for running wires for LEDs, contact plates, and hopefully running wired to the stargate http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:39976 By Glitch.

Perhaps someone could use an Arduino to tie the two things together and make the Corresponding Gliphs on the DHD and the stargate light up in sequence when the Gliphs are pressed on the DHD???

Currently, only the outer ring of Gliphs/Chevrons are moveable.

I believe this thing can be printed as shown, although there may be need of some support under the gliphs? Current footprint is 200mm x 200mm

I am still working on the top and expect to start work on the base of the DHD soon. I have alot of time to accomplish this but it still is very tedious.

Any and all comments and suggestions are most welcome.

I have upload the SKP and STL file formats.

Please keep in mind that I am an ameteur Designer. :)

Uploaded new SKP and STL files

DHD Test 9C STL and SKP are the main DHD
DHD Inner Bottom Cover and DHD outer Bottom Cover are covers for easy access for wiring and LEDs and contact points for on/off switches for LEDS

okay folks, new files upload with some pretty good fixes done to them.
1 I split the DHD into layers for easier printing
2 Uploaded the newer files (I left the older files for those who want the entire unit)
Files as follows:
a. Dome.stl
b. Gliph pad 1.stl
c. Gliph pad 2.stl
d. Inner base cover.stl
e. Outer Base Cover.stl
f. DHD Components Assembled.stl

Oopps, I discovered a flaw in the gliph pad 2.stl. The decoration on the top half is not connected. Will repair as soon as possible.

It looks like the DHD Components Exploded View STL file is empty, or incomplete. Also, any luck with Gliph2? It shows up as really broken in both Slic3r and Cura. Thanks!

Hello, I am sorry about the unit not slicing properly. I only just got my own 3d printer! (built it myself Prusa I2. This is still very much a work in progress. I am honored that you would down load this thing. Rest assured I have not forgotten about this thing. Now that my printer is almost running. (still tweaking the final feedrates) I plan on finishing this project!

Okay Folks I uploaded a new skp and stl of the dialing pads. I am having trouble redoing the decorative portion of the dome. If someone with more skill than I can do this please let me know. I would greatly appreciate the help.

Okay Folks, Sorry for the extremely long delay, but I am back. and you all are not forgotten. Keep checking back for updates :) A big thanx to all of you folks out there watching this thing.

I have not forgotten about this thing! I wanted to let you know that the base is completed and some of the upper pad, I will upload samples soon, I do not know if they will print but I have tried to keep it around the 200mm mark on all the individual components. When assembled the total size should be around 350mm-400mm on the z and 200mmx200mm x,y

Can you go to Glitch's "Working Stargate" and tell me what you think of the M.A.L.P. Mark II I'm working on. It's under "Made"

Wow, it is looking great! I was working on a malp as well, the DHD wia giving me such a headache I had to stop working on it for a long while. I now have the base for the dhd about 90% complete and the Malp is about 40%-60% completed. Your M.A.L.P. is looking great!

Any luck with this, how is the work coming along? I printed Glitch's "Working Stargate", assembled it, and just finished painting it. I will upload pictures in the next few days with any luck.

IHey 3080, I am still having trouble with the top portion of the DHD, the gliphs are done but there is a problem with the dome and the outer decoration of the dome. I had to set it aside while I work on the base. I can upload the base (will need assembly once printed) but it is still work in progress. For those watching this thread, I have not forgotten :)

I printed the stargate and pictures are up now.

Just a quik note folks, I am still working on the DHD, I know some of you are watching to see what happens with this project.

Great idea:) Can't wait to print a full stargate with dhd

Thank you still working on a refit. trying to disassemble and layer for individual printing of dhd components keep checking back for updates
