Revision 2 that I worked on way back when but never had the need to make again. Remade them this time in stainless steel on a water jet cutting machine, but the vector and source files uploaded are the slotted and tabbed versions intended for a CNC router or laser cutter. Enjoy!
Portal inspired book ends! Cut out on a shapeoko 2, but a laser cutter would work well too.
1) Use the vector file to create your paths
2) Separate each part out to cut/laser on the correct colors
3) Cut/laser out each part
4) Glue and assemble
I used a shapeoko 2 to cut it out. My settings were 15 IPM feed, .02" step down per pass and "high medium" for spindle speed. (my speed controller does not have any numbers on it). I used a 1/16" square end mill and all the corner reliefs are designed to take that into account.
